SEC 25-26

Lots of grumbling in the SEC. However, Coach Yo has a point

I honestly think it is demeaning for coaches to publicly complain about AP rankings unless it is really egregious, and Ole Miss at 16 is farrrr from it. You want to use it to motivate your players in the locker room, that's fine. But whining in public is for fans.

Mississippi is 1-1 OOC against the NET top 50 and 16th in that rating. Play somebody.

I kinda see her point because the rankings are weekly and are based on what happened in the last several days. Ole Miss hasn’t been highly ranked recently and isn’t familiar with the “act like you’ve been there” routine yet

Someone on Twitter called her out and she said she was angry for her players, who were pretty disappointed

My question would be what were their expectations based on their season to date? They've been ranked as high as 12th and no lower than 18th. They've been holding steady in my opinion.

I get they had an upset over Oklahoma, but so did Kentucky who are short handed and won by more. Ohio State beat Maryland by 12 points and they were ranked lower than Ole Miss at the time. Had those results not happened, maybe they would have been ranked higher?? 🤷‍♀️

edit Not sure what happened as I thought I pasted a screenshot, not a table.

Coach Yo seems super needy.

That comment was for herself, I think.

The coaches in this league are some characters.

It's not just Coach Yo, did you see Vic's post game presser from the LSU game? I lost a lot of respect for him due to his whining...

I mean the poll is taken week to week but the season results are taken in consideration. Ole Miss lost to 6-5 Kansas State team, they got their butts whipped AT HOME vs. Mich State and then lost a close game after being down by as many as 19 to Texas, who then lost to LSU so how much validity is a voter supposed to put into these games to satisfy Coach Yo? Add in the fact she's a poor x's and o's coach and is more a "car salesman" who solely gets recruits via the portal, I am glad she feels slighted. Win something....

Correction - this game was at a neutral site. Think it gets rated a bit differently.

Win something first is my whole thing with Yo.

Another one ... that is, another mid-season addition:

Based on how Kentucky is playing, it seems like Key is sorely missed. Saw another post on Twitter quoting Coach Brooks talking about not having a deep bench. Definitely something to monitor while she's out.

One could say she was the key to their success...

So who is the 4th best team in this Conference?

They are something alright 😒

Got one Frenchie in Columbia, another one landed in Starkville. Who the heck is advising these French kids?

Don’t know about aGuillet but thee advisor for Tournabize is her Mom. Former NCAA and wnba player.

They should go to one of those ambitious Try Hards that can't beat anybody nonconference but rules their mid-major league, like Montana State or Duke.

Waiting on Vic to join Kim in bitching about the SEC tournament being in Greenville (almost) every year. Honestly, I don’t blame them much. However, Greenville treats the players very, very well and is located close to the middle of the two largest attendance fanbases.

I wouldn’t mind seeing the tournament alternate between Greenville and a Western city like Dallas or Oklahoma City - though the NBA teams’ March seasons there could mess with wbb popularity in those locations.

And also treats the fans very well. I was there for the Regionals in 2023 and was very impressed by how the city embraced the invasion of WBB fans. The venue was great, inexpensive parking within short walking distance, lots of eateries and watering holes all around, plenty of hotels and AirBnBs, excellent crowd control/support, superb food. I'd go back in a heartbeat!

Greenville is the perfect layout and size for WBB regionals and SEC tourney. Both could get lost or ignored in a bigger city. Greenville is small enough to make it a big deal for the whole city, while big enough that there are sufficient hotels and dining within walking distance of the city.

Kenny is REALLY missing Teoni Key. Since her injury, they are 2-4 after starting 15-1 with her in the starting line up

I thought I would pass along that after discussions between the two universities and the SEC that the Vandy at South Carolina game is still scheduled to be played on ESPN at 3 pm tomorrow. There is still potential for postponing the game if the weather conditions are worse than expected.
