Can't be. I heard from Karl that this isn't how Saban does it. And it was a long post, so it had to be accurate.

Well...unfortunately it looks like OSU and PSU are officially in the hunt for Schwan. In fact, OSU shows up with the highest level of interest of anyone. The good news for us, and who knows how good it will turn out to be, is that he is still scheduled for an official visit this coming weekend, his second visit here in two weeks. With the big boys involved now...we can only hope!

Well...that really seems to be bad news for us...and right before LOI day too! That's even though it's coming from Ped U! I wonder if the kids are considering the potential sanctions at all. They could be huge!

Thanks BN...just really get the feeling that since the season has now ended, that Tom Bradley and Jay Paterno are gone from the program, and a new HC in O'Brien is in, that the recruits are feeling.... this is a fresh start! When, in fact, the worst days for the program are still ahead!

There will be no sanctions. They are 100% not responsible for anything that took place, just ask a PSU supporter.

There is room for 3 maybe 4 schollys now that we took the kid from Air Force. We have taken a load of LB's. He probably heads elsewhere. We need a TE in this class and there are several visiting on the 20th which may close out this class.

In terms of those "two specific skill positions", UConn has Shakim Phillips and Bryce McNeal coming is as transfer WRs. they may be better than anybody on our roster now with the exception of Smith who is coming back after his academic suspension. Nelly Cunningham and John Green are commits and the staff is aggressively going after another WR commit (Liddell or Goodluck). They certainly aren't ignoring the WR position.

Don't think you could ask for much more at QB with the CT POY in Cochran and a highly touted JUCO transfer in Whitmer. UConn and Pasqualoni will need a few seasons with some decent productivity from a QB before decent HS QBs take them seriously. Edsall's track record with QBs is going to take a while for people to forget.

It looks good. I actually am not completely unhappy with the talent in house at QB either... I actually think the problems at QB have as much to do with (or maybe more with) injury than lack of talent... that and a certain persons fondness for controlled substances. We had a long string of injuries at WR as well. That being said REs recruiting at QB and WR didn't leave much wiggle room.

Whitmer's juco teammate

On the Butler roster, it lists three players as TEs. Perhaps there was another one who was a two-way and listed by his defensive position? Assuming it's just those three, one had no receptions last season and the other two each had 4. So hopefully it was a matter of the offensive scheme there not counting on the TEs to be big receivers. The names are Train, Shortell and Haverkamp. Do you know which it is?

Cool...Neil Shortell had the most receiving yards of the two with 60. Receptions of 4, 5, 13 and 38. He's listed at 6'3" 254.

There is a lengthy video of "highlights" from last season. It is essentially a video of his blocking skills. He is a damn good blocker and is kind of an extension of the offensive line. He would fill a hole and could play immediately. Given the ? at TE I would rather take a solid JUCO prospect for a couple of years than a HS kid who may take a while to develop. Not a star recruit, but a logical addition. Still a mystery about Manning......makes no sense that he would have been forced out to bring in a JUCO blocker. Still wouldn't mind a HS TE in this class, but there don't seem to be any with interest.

Looks like PSU ace recruiter Larry Johnson Sr. will have an in home visit with Schwan and his Sunday night after he gets back from UConn. This from another Ryan Snyder (Blue White Illustrated writer) tweet. This isn't good...it'll be hard to beat PSU for him with this full court press they are putting on right now.

You are so right! Of course it's no mistake that PSU wants to meet him the very night he returns from UConn. If he had even remotely been thinking of committing...how could he ever do that now knowing that his long time favorite, PSU, is coming to his house Sunday night?

Would UConn's coaching staff (or any coaching staff to put it generically) know if Player A will be visited by a rep from another school when Player A gets home from UConn?
I wonder how that would impact the UConn staff in terms of how they approach the recruit, what angle they take, etc.

Not playing in a bowl game hurt. If we could have played in a nice bowl game and get a good solid win, that may have been enough to sway some of the bigger targets. The positive is we got a lot of good quality kids early. These kids would have all been stressing us out now if they would have not committed early as we approach signing day.
Yep, for all the complaining some people did in the past about going to "lesser" "crappy bowls" the one thing worse than a lower level bowl game... Is NO Bowl game and sitting home. That was painfully obvious this year or at least it should be. Here's to playing in any Bowl next season! :)
