Saturday (3/9) games

Louisville with back-to-back THREEs...34-28, NC State, at the under 5 minute media timeout.

Hmm...Durr drives in for a layup and the ball gets wedged between the rim and blackboard. Louisville run continues, however...Pack lead down to 1.

Baylor looks damn good right now

Love Ursin and Smith on the floor at the same time.

NC State unraveling. 2 fouls now on Kiara Leslie, DD Rogers and Elissa Cunane. Wes Moore gets a technical. Durr hits 1 of 2 FT. 37-34, Louisville. Rainbow THREE for Durr...40-34. 15-0 run for Louisville.

Halftime: Louisville leading NC State, 44-34. Cardinals finished the quarter on a 19-0 run.

I knew it was a big run, but didn't realize it was 19-0

NC State played the last few minutes without either Rogers, Leslie or Cunane in the game...we didn't make any shots and had four or five turnovers in that span.

Louisville run extended to 21-0...now NC State on a run. 52-47, Cards...NC State's DD Rogers to the line for two FT when play resumes. 4:01 left, 3rd quarter. Kiara Leslie with 4 quick points...she's starting to heat up.

Now NC State on a 19-6 run...Wolfpack leads, 53-52.

NC State retakes the lead.

Louisville leads NC State, 59-57, going to the 4th. Huge defensive quarter for NC State. Amazing what happens when our starters can stay on the floor.

Louisville pulling away again...72-61, 5:23 left. 4 fouls now on Cunane for NC State.

Louisville up 74-68, 56 seconds left. Foul trouble looming on both sides. Joycelyn Jones out for Louisville.

Final: Louisville eliminates NC State, 78-68. Louisville now 29-2; NC State now 26-5.

With the SEC semis coming up next, some coaching tree trivia:

Vic Schaefer and Mike Neighbors both worked for Gary Blair earlier in their coaching careers. I believe all three were together at Arkansas, and of course Vic was the long time assoc head coach at A&M.

Kudos to NCS for playing Lou tight. After the last injury I left them for dead but they are legit top 10. Should be 8 or 9 in final comm ranks

Much respect was earned this season by the Wolfpack.

It’s looking extremely likely that NC St will be the 2 or 3 seed in Greensboro.

Mississppi State playing stifling defense...up 7-0 on Missouri. At least three steals so far.

Robin pingeton is such a great coach. She has Missouri set up perfectly. Slouch off to the paint so McCowan can’t touch ball. Force MSU to hit long jumpers. And on offense force McCowan in to a pick n roll and exploit her slow feet. It’s how they beat her a month ago and it’s the only game plan that works.

Halftime - Mississippi State 37, Missouri 26

Last game when Mizzou beat State Howard was in foul trouble and didn’t play most of the game. Also, Big -T had a terrible game (credit to the Tigers) making MSU shoot the ball and clogging up the lane.

Vic has adjusted quite well himself. T is getting some easy touches and good looks now.
