Can we talk about how hard Purvis was pressing tonight? Purvis has to play in the flow of the game to be good. He has 3 bad looking turnovers. When he dribbles I get nervous.

If Adams doesn't develop a mid ranger jumper and a left hand then it will be a long season. He went 4-15 and didn't look good.

We are still being hurt by the sanctions. In another year or two we will get some decent post players

Good lord, burn this post alive.

We've had some *outstanding* recruiting classes the last few years. We're past that and beyond it. Ollie's gotta make it come together.

Really? Facey and Brimah (ranked 240) and getting "lucky" with a Purvis transfer. I dont want to hear it. We suck, but our recruiting classes for the previous three years have been so sub UConn Standard (besides JA)

firing the staff is an overreaction. but man none of these players look like they took a leap. Larrier looks like the identical inefficient chucker he was at vcu and adams can't shoot and plays lazy defense. All the bigs are below average, I did like what i saw from AG and Vital. its crazy vital might be much better than purvis.

I think Brimah has maxed out ability. Don't think you can blame coaches for a kid who reached athletic limit.
Then the coach needs to recognize this and not play him so much. Pretty simple answer.

Larrier and Gilbert, and to a lesser extent Vital, were our only good players tonight, can't believe you picked Larrier over any other 8 players that played like * on the team

Just stop it.

They brought in almost seven four-star guys or better in the past three/four years plus essentially landing two monstrous transfers last year. We're losing to Wagner. And Yale. And Houston. Playing in an arena with darkened lights because the ceiling is flaking...

wow I was wrong he had a efficient game. still could have played better defense.

Agree, but everyone could've, every 3 was open, chasing the ball around the whole time.

Larrier mid range game is nice but I don't want him taking 7 threes. He banked one in and hit a desperate one at the end.

They were giving us the the outside shot and cramming the middle to not let AG or Adams in the paint. They ran double screens all night.

We need to stop recruiting big men projects as our starting centers that don't pan out, between bri

a top 10 recruiting class ?

Brimah's literally only here because of sanctions. Winter '13 we had no other options.

Larrier was being a bit of a gunner and forcing things tonight, but he did have his moments where he looked pretty solid.

Another year where they are a non-factor during the regular season seems likely.

Let's break this down. You are saying we have lots of talent. We are also losing to teams like Yale, Wagner and Houston. So.........

Anyone criticizing the defense tonight isn't necessarily wrong (especially if you count rebounding), but certainly not seeing the bigger fish to fry.

We scored less than 1pp against Wagner at home.

There it is!!!! See, I told you...the sanctions. That and conference affiliation. And some lingering effects from not having a practice facility for so long...don't forget that!

Do you think that UConn recruits big men who can't crack the top 250 when they aren't sanctioned? Literally the only reason Brimah is on the roster. Use your head.

its tough when the bigs arent good screeners, all our below average bigs only feel comfortable attempting infficient post moves, they aren't good passers , screeners or offensive rebounders really. Facey is ok but he doesn't really carve out space and eat the glass. I also agree his rotations have always been bizarre 100%, he yanked like 4 starters after 4 minutes. they'llstruggle to get any rhythm with that approach.

When the ball went into Enoch and Brimah tonight down low, it didn't come out. I know Enoch ignored Vance who was all alone for a 3.

Drive, kick outs, ball movement, some screens wouldn't hurt.

We got 18 points combined from the players that returned from last year. Five returning players. 18 points. Larrier outscored the five returning players by himself.

Ollie has to take some heat for this game, no doubt. But God almighty, 5 returning Huskies come into their own house and only get 18 points against a team like Wagner, and there is more than enough blame to go around...

I know right!? It's almost like we should be beating mostly bad programs!!

Remember when Brimah was a promising Freshman? I really thought he was going to be a player.

Purvis just looks so Tight and stiff. And Truthfully unathletic.

Our Offense has never had great flow not in either of our last two national championships.

Larrier and Gilbert looked good.

1) Team isn't ready to play to start the half. Went down 11-4 in the first. Took five minutes to score in the second and gave up a 11-2 run along the way. Love the bizarre mix and match lineups that never, ever work.

2) We still have a couple of seven-footers who can't rebound a basketball or get in the way of someone who can.

3) The offense is still dysfunctional.

Numbers one and three are entirely on the coaching staff - not sure what these guys are doing in practice, but we're into years now where this seems to be an issue.

Number two is on the coaching staff as well; if you can't develop a prospect in the front court, start recruiting ready-made players.
Fair criticisms.

It's sooooo hard to consistently score points when you don't run an offense. What is our offensive philosophy other than to swing the ball around the perimeter until the shot clock gets to 10 and then let someone freelance?

And we can't blame Hobbs...

Our coaching staff has developed an uncanny ability to look completely bewildered at the slightest hint of ineffectiveness on the floor - not an inspiring or productive trait. Further, Glen Miller's 1000 yard stare is starting to really bother me.
