One thing I don't get about this: why would the Big12 schools want these teams to join? Why share their $$? Are you saying that Kansas St. and Iowa St. prevailed over Texas by insisting new members be added in case Texas bolted?
Just now from @ChuckCarltonDMN on Twitter: "A source on the idea of TCU, Louisville, Cincinnati, W. Va to the Big 12: "It's one of the leading options." Big 12 waiting on Missouri."
You got any links. This is looking more and more real every minute. It also looks like USF is the #1 backup choice if Missouri bails. Talk about things going south quickly, two weeks ago Rutgers and UConn are telling the other 5 to pound sand when they ask us to rebuild the Big East. Now UConn and Rutgers are the Big East. This is a truly craptacular outcome.
If only Herbst had shown solidarity, the others would have seen the light of good fortune in the Big East... right.Let's hope not. Any chance of stopping this exodus evaporated around the time Herbst decided not to show up to the meeting in New York with the other football schools. Now she may be reduced to begging them to drag us along.
Well, like you stated, that link only says Louisville is trying to keep the league together. Who the hell knows what is really going on. It will be interesting to see what comes out of the Big East presidents meeting this Sunday. Will there still be a Big East football conference by then?
All the teams are "interested" in keeping the Big East alive, just until they have a ticket out.It doesn't say "only" Louisville, it just says Louisville. I have to imagine that any Presidents interested in rebuilding are going to demand a commitment with some teeth in it, effectively almost immediately.
I meant to say there was nothing in the article about the Big 12 adding all of the aforementioned Big East teams. I doubt we are going to see much movement here quickly. It doesn't say "only" Louisville, it just says Louisville. I have to imagine that any Presidents interested in rebuilding are going to demand a commitment with some teeth in it, effectively almost immediately.
Boston Globe college football reporter thinks the B12 might look eastward with the addition of Louisville, WVA, Rutgers and UConn.
Per Mr. SEC this morning. This is why UConn and Rutgers don't have to worry about being left out. It's probably why the Big 12 doesn't want people to think they would consider adding us as well. It would be the biggest of all power moves for them to take the Big East six including the two Northeastern teams and basically become America's conference. It wouldn't surprise me at all if the Big 10 decided to make sure this doesn't happen and invited us before the Big 12 or ACC get the chance to.

If market size, rather than market share, was the leading force behind reallignment, then please explain why Quse and Pitt were added to the ACC and not Rutgers/UConn.
