Queen of Soul and King of Rock both died on August 16th
That didn't take long... she just went into hospice on Monday.
Amazing talent. Might be best we'll ever see at what she did.
I've never heard Robert Johnson called "King of Rock", but I'll go along with that given rock doesn't exist without the blues.
I was referring to Elvis dying on August 16th, 1977
I knew that. I simply don't acknowledge it.
Very sorry to hear this. She was one the greats for sure.
Probably a better choice than Freeway of Love. That should be the Boneyard's theme song.
Not knowable.. . . I'll go along with that given rock doesn't exist without the blues.
Not knowable.
It's not simple enough? This should be an interesting thesis... please go ahead and elaborate!
It's not simple enough?
You're assuming that rock and roll would not have developed on its own.
Sure, rock progressions were based on blues progressions and everybody in early rock was influenced by blues artists. But if blues never existed you don't know where music would have gone. Do you?
I believe you just answered your question via the bolded part above. Music would have gone somewhere else that wasn't rock n roll as we know it.
Maybe without the competition, Texas Swing would've taken over.
Sure, and if Columbus had sailed further south Music would have gone somewhere else, as well.Music would have gone somewhere else that wasn't rock n roll as we know it.
You're completely missing my point. It's not even some like an ancient myth that is impossible to prove, we can go back and listen to the music, read articles from the time etc and track pretty closely how rock came to be.
Sure, and if Columbus had sailed further south Music would have gone somewhere else, as well.
Point is, it's facile and a bit lazy to say "rock would not exist without blues."
You don't know that.
Return to tonic is hardwired as appealing. The progression used in Don't Stop Believing may be hardwired as appealing as well.
Was not familiar with palliative care until very recently.Pancreatic cancer... day after she shifts to palliative care... at least it was probably quick
