Rickea Jackson transfers

Just made no sense from a logistical standpoint. She literally picked the 1 program in the country with a clearly superior player ahead of her. I don't doubt she'll improve big time under Dawn but she'll come off the bench until her senior season. Going to a place like Texas (or many other programs) just made so much more sense from a playing time/development standpoint.

Idk, unless I’m misremembering her time at Cuse she looks like she’s regressed since last year? The fee times I’ve seen her in backup duty this season I wasn’t exactly impressed.

Wouldn't she have been facing a similar situation at Texas? With the exception of Lattimore, who committed in August when she decommitted from Syracuse, Texas was pretty deep at that position too.
No-because she is better than all the Texas posts.

She hasn't looked as good as last year IMO but it seems like she's taking time to adjust as a backup. Dawn is excellent at developing players so I think she'll be very good in the next couple of years but she hasn't found her stride yet at SC.

She's having to learn to play defense other than just blocking shots. It's been a strange year for Kamilla. She didn't come at the beginning of the summer for some reason (maybe finishing up classes at Syracuse) had a minor injury, then Covid, then gone for National team again, another injury (ankle) and then another injury (Shoulder). She's been banged up a bit and missed some practice time. I think next year you will see her at the 5 and Boston at the 4 more often. Hopefully she'll be here over the summer so she can get the full benefit of the strength program because we have one of the best. Dawn's staff can develop that position. Look at A'ja and Aliyah and even Alaina Coates and how they have improved over the course of their career.

The down side of our tough scheduling was we never really had a chance to work on getting some of the new players in the line-up to see what they can do. Hopefully Dawn will take that into consideration next year when we will have to replace our PG and Saxton.

Kamilla played on the same AAU team as Raven and Ashlyn Watkins (signee) and am pretty sure that was part of her decision.

I've thought the same and your points remind me of something commentators said during a game this season. I may phrase this wrong, but the gist was that the coaching staff thought she had to work get caught up to the rest of her team mates at that position. Syracuse's use of her in comparison to how South Carolina play their bigs is very different.

I believe she's in the right place for her long term development. Immediate playing time is great, but sometimes it's better to be the understudy for a bit.

Is Henderson for sure going pro? SC's roster next year is interesting....they're overloaded in the post and have a ton of guards/wings that struggle shooting. Competition for playing time will still be brutal at the 4/5 spots even if Saxton leaves. There's Cardoso, Feagin, Amihere and Watkins essentially competing for 1 spot on the court, plus the 10-15 minutes Boston sits.

Backcourt play is also a big question mark if Henderson leaves. Johnson was highly touted but is coming off an ACL and is unproven, Cooper is an incoming freshman who might be playing the point. Not a terrible situation, but not ideal either. Cooke returns at the 2 but isn't a facilitator (under 2 assists per game) and has struggled shooting throughout her career. Beal at the 3 is great defensively but isn't a big offensive threat. And then for other options you have athletic guards in Feagin, Hall, and Russell but all of them have struggled scoring this year. I'm guessing several of these players will grow and improve production with more playing but looking ahead to next year, SC's backcourt looks like a potential weak spot with the freshmen struggling to adjust and Cooke having an off year.

Exactly. She and Dawn both said as much. Kamilla said she didn't mind sitting and learning from Aliyah. Kamilla's offense is getting a pass or rebound right at the basket and putting it back in. She's very raw.

I see SC getting a grad transfer or 1 year point guard in the portal for insurance for Raven. Rivers was the actual backup point during the SEC season and I thought she did a solid job when she was out there . She is tall and can see the court well. Besides her athleticism, I was impressed with her passing from the position.

Henderson is a projected first rounder so I'm pretty sure she will go. There will be some retooling of our starting line-up - that's for sure. Bree Hall is a scorer and reminds me a lot of Tiffany Mitchell. Slasher, good outside shot, good defender. She's actually been our most productive freshman. Saniyah Rivers is going to be another good one and the game is slowing down some for her, but she was hindered at the beginning of the year from a nose break/concussion and then Covid. She really didn't get going until right before conference play. We will go through some growing pains at the beginning of next year but have the chance to be even better as this second #1 recruiting class grows up. If we stay healthy and don't have major transfers out SC will again be in the thick of things. You never know - Dawn may bring in a transfer guard, depending on how much our roster turns over. We have 5 Srs and with the Covid year 4 of them could be back. The only one who has no eligibility left is Grissett.

When you come here to see if Jackson picked a team and y’all talkin about Cardosa who’s already on a team

I know, right? I came on here for the same reason and somebody had already high jacked the thread with what a bad choice they thought Kamilla had made. I had to chime in and it turned into a SC discussion. Sorry.

According to the LadyVols message board, someone posted earlier today that Rickea had an Instagram chat this morning and she stated she was flying out today for an official visit somewhere, and might take a final visit next weekend.

So, did she fly down to LSU as some have speculated?

Who speculated that? I hope transfers see LSU has 4 wide open positions next year though. We need help

Word of advice. Whatever they say on that board...take with a grain of salt that fell in a gallon of water. They all have "insider information" for just $29.99 a month.

They've been spot on posting about Rickea's official visits to Ole Miss, Tennessee, and Texas. Nobody on any of the Texas boards knew a thing about Rickea's visit to Texas until we read about it on the LadyVols board being in the works.

I'm not following your problem. Everything posted about her visits has been accurate. Do I know where those anonymous posters got their intel? Nope. But, since they were right, why should I doubt it now? Because you're warning me?

FYI -- I'm referring to a free message board, not the Premium ($) one.

I don't have a problem. If you have all day to sit on someone's social media, you could have gotten this and other information...free of charge. And, then there's the stuff...they and others just make up and that twice a day a broken clock is also right. I prefer free by just waiting and seeing.

I know. I was referencing all these insider subscription services that get their info from Twitter, Instagram, my uncle, and the barbershop and then charge a fee. I get the fandom, but "Where in the World is Rickea Jackson" is not tapping into these pockets.

I think you are missing the point or simply overstating an illogical view. The message board almost all of us refer to is VolNation which is free and does have very accurate information, albeit with anger and entitlement but still accurate. There is a "Summitt" board that does charge fees that go into Maria Cornelius' pocket but no one on this board admits to paying that fee.

I think that @southie was hoping that @SECbbfan24 @Dwilliams02 or @skilz could opine if Kim was hosting Ms. Jackson this weekend as they will need some bodies next year and Kim does have good rep for coaching power forwards.

We will probably strike out on all the transfers unfortunately

I wasn't doing any of that, but thanks.

BallOut?
Full disclosure. I have no idea if it's Ballout or BallIn or some other ball. Kinda like I don't know the difference between LIL Wayne and any of the other 200 rappers named...LIL_______.

No offense to Jackson, but she's not such a once in a generation player to warrant an eleven page thread when she hasn't even chosen a school yet. Can someone just update this thread title once she picks so I can stop being disappointed every time I go to this thread? ;)

Actually, since she hasn't transferred yet, it should be corrected now to read:
"Rickea Jackson in the portal; let's discuss a mélange of barely related topics". :p

So, for those actually interested in the info, her last (third) confirmed visit was to Texas the weekend of 03/04/2022. Looks like she's back home in Detroit (for Spring Break?) if the photo was taken the same date as the below tweet.

Tomorrow, 03/16, is her birthday. Some posters on different message boards thought she could be announcing a decision on that day. Some think she'll take another visit this coming weekend. If tomorrow comes and goes with no announcement, then likely the process is not over for her.
