The BallOut media story is something else. This puff piece could have been written by Cornelius herself. Maybe she's a contributor. There is a bit of a symbiosis between Cornelius and BallOut. She routinely touts BallOut (guy named Mike Robinson) as the best at providing insider recruiting info (he isn't) and sends Summitteers and their $$ his way. BallOut charges at least $20 a month for so-called inside information most can get from message boards. There are occasional nuggets but not worth the price. I bet most of the subscribers are Tennessee fans so it pays to keep them happy with stories like he just posted.

His stuff about the Tennessee brand is interesting. Note he says "history of the game" rather than currently because he knows UConn passed Tennessee as the number 1 brand in women's basketball many years ago. This statement is just flat-out wrong: "Tennessee is the only school that’s been on ABC, Fox, and ESPN this season." UConn has been on all three networks this season. The Fox broadcast of UConn vs Tennessee was under the Big East media deal. I'm not suggesting Tennessee doesn't attract a significant audience, but it doesn't by itself deliver the same ratings as UConn and South Carolina.

I have no thoughts on Jackson as I'm just not that familiar with her game and I know nothing about the circumstances surrounding her transfer. I suspect she won't solve the problems that keep Tennessee from being an elite team.

Interesting that another recent visitor to Tennessee was a player also from Detroit, Minnesota transfer Jasmine Powell. The former Gopher point guard entered the transfer portal late January. I think she was benched at halftime during the Gopher's ugly 50+ point loss to Iowa and left the team a week later. Not sure another guard who shoots 30% is what Vols need but there's that.

Not the biggest fan of all this midseason transferring.
Remember being in the portal doesn’t necessarily mean that she will transfer before the end of the school year. At least I think that’s how it works.

I would love to have Jackson at SC, but I don't know how that will affect our younger players. I would hate to have anyone transfer over a one-year deal.

I consider Davis to be more of a guard and Jackson a wing.
I was not referring to the position they play. Although Jackson may be a wing her presence on the team adds another good player who can score. Would her playing with Jordan be as productive as Davis playing with Jordan was? Some are saying her addition to Tennessee would make them a big threat to win a NC. They never came close to winning a NC with the Horston/Davis combination.

She can't. All schools have deadlines each semester (or quarter) as to when they can enroll for classes. That deadline has passed for the Spring semester.

Rickea's in an unusual spot, if you ask me. I'm assuming she is completing her third academic season at MSU this semester. Depending on whether or not she took summer classes, she'll either be graduating after 3 years at MSU in May (and be grad-transferring), or she will be a rising senior (academically). It is not always a guarantee that someone who is 3 years into completing their degree at one school can have all their coursework transfer seamlessly to their new school and not lose any credits. This is the reason why you don't see a lot of rising seniors transfer to a different school (as undergraduates); and, it makes sense. You earned course credits at one school for 3 academic years, but you are going to transfer to another school for 1 year and earn your undergraduate degree from new school?

Of course, the above might not be applicable to Rickea (perhaps she is more than 1 year away from earning her undergraduate degree, or she plans to return to school after her pro career begins to finish her academic coursework). Hoping she's thought it all through.

Ah. I better understand your question. Good one too.

The combination of Horston, Jackson and Burrell is very intriguing. I think they could be just as productive but not better. I'm saying this as I take your comment about a national championship (or a deep tournament run) being the defining factor.

Not sure if Jackson would be the piece that gets them over the hump. I think they need more depth in the post to help Key. Losing Green has had some impact to their style of play. Saunders has struggled and Striplin is still getting acclimated to the game.

Maybe she’ll transfer to Vanderbilt. I think she would be perfect in Coach Ralph’s system. Perhaps Shea could help teach her some kind of trick shot to help with her scoring. Then we could all talk about the Rickea/Shea trick shot.

(I’ll just see myself out.)

Is Burrell coming back? I see they are honoring her during senior day tomorrow. Or maybe she is unsure yet

Rickea is different.
I liked how TN and the orange attracted so many TV viewer eyes. I guess UConn and SC as opponents had nothing to do with it.:rolleyes:
we both got that Tennessee bump….according to LV fans.

Out of curiosity what are the numbers?
If you ignore last year (COVID restrictions) and compare this year to 2019-2020, their numbers for conference games are down about 1700. I looked at the same years for SC, ours is up a few. Surprised. I didn't expect them to be back to pre-COVID numbers yet. I took into account, the sellout this year for the Tennessee gameday matchup. But during the 2019-2020 season, we also a sellout for the last regular season game against Texas A&M. I think the regular season SEC championship was on the line for that game. Plus, it was senior day.

I highly doubt Burrell comes back. She's largely considered a first round pick this year and next year's draft class is looking to be even stronger. Considering how few players make a roster, it's probably best to get out sooner than later.

I doubt she does but I think she'd be smart to. She thrived last year but hasn't found any rhythm this season. Another year at Tennessee where she hopefully stays healthy and can shine in a go to role gives her a good shot to make a roster. Even if she gets picked in the first round I'm not sure she makes a roster. She isn't playing like a WNBA caliber player this year and I don't see teams patiently waiting for her to get better.

Following that link. The AAC has better attendance than the Big East
Probably apples & oranges comparison this year. Mostly southern AAC schools would've had fewer Covid requirements and less covid concern than the northern BE schools.
