$1 million more was spent on football this year than last year?!! Is that correct?

If that is correct, that's not good. The defense has regressed badly.
They missed a bunch on defense this year for sure but the losses have been coaching errors. We're talented enough to be undefeated

.-.
Our defense is atrocious. We have one good player in Parham and then the rest are useless. Second-half playcalling from Gordie was his worst since Syracuse's second half. There's no universe where we need to force feed Rosa running routes out of the backfield.
Dude he’s the next Edelman!!!! Every BY poster who has a weird obsession with him (wonder why hmm…) has been telling me this for years

We must lead the Ncaa in 3 yard completions on 3rd and 7. Play calling needs a serious overhaul.

This is why I don't get the Gordon Sammis as a genius talk. He's good, we've done things that haven't been seen in a while here, but compared to actual offensive geniuses he doesn't stack up yet.

Lots of posts about coaching change.
Be careful what you wish for. Mora is a great ambassador for the University. No drama and seemingly no skeletons (it's almost Halloween) in the closet.
Unless the AD has someone qualified lined up- they should stick with Mora

We should NOT have gone for 2.

SCORE A TOUCHDOWN IN DOUBLE OT! That is much easier to do than scoring a 2 pt conversion.
Ok we score a TD and then have to go for 2, which you said is difficult anyway. You think for one second we were gonna stop rice with our defense? Not a shot in hell.

The first person to like this post is Mora4Prez. The irony, lol.

I'm not saying you're wrong but I am in no rush to can one of two successful coaches we've had in our FBS history
Yeah it’s also pretty ironic that our school which has produced championship basketball teams under 3 different coaches in 25 years is incapable of finding a football coach who can make us even remotely nationally competitive.

I appreciate what Mora’s done but there’s zero reason UNT, USF, Memphis, and Tulane should have more prominent and successful programs than us. It’s infuriating.

A reminder of everything UConn isn't in FBS football.. A terrible performance: offense, defense, special teams and coaching. A winnable game that they gave away. Disgraceful tackling attempts, still trying to run Edward's outside (a colossal failure all season) instead of between tackles, still not getting receivers to the first down line before turning for the ball, and no coach screaming at Fagnano to bring his passes down.

Mora is who he is. He will never take this program to the next level and a P4 invitation. 300 rushing yards allowed to this garbage Rice team? No balance on offense? Always comes up small in key game situations? It's the same pattern year after year.

The defense is hyper aggressive, we've seen it all year with plays where the defender over-pursues and runs past the play. It was a terrible matchup for a team that uses a lot of misdirection. The few plays guys tried to read and react they got caught flat-footed.

No kidding.

Terrible job assembling them. Worse job coaching them.

5-3 against a schedule this putridly weak, is not a good look. 6-2 wasn't really that impressive either, but objectively - no one is impressed with us, and no one is fooled by a winning record.

this defensive line is truly just infuriating to watch, play after play. feels like we came right back to august and september, in one afternoon.

That's the part that gets me. Why have Coastal Carolina, Appalachian State, North Dakota State been consistently better football programs? UConn is a much bigger brand name (thank you basketball) and has more resources. I know some might say they are closer to better recruiting grounds blah, blah, blah, etc. etc. etc.

It really shouldn't be this difficult to be nationally competitive. This is not a hard schedule UConn Football has this year.

Sure that's true, and I saw that as well, but it looks like any and every offense is a bad match up for UConn's defense.

I don't get why all of a sudden we started running our offense side to side instead of north and south. Outside zone to short side, screen to wide side.. TE drag 5 yds short of the sticks on 3rd down. Do we not have a running playbook that gets north and south between the tackles? Is it all outside zone runs? Rice used their big DLine size to just wash the crap down the gutter to the sideline. Where'd the tight ends in the seams go in the second half that were working in the first half?

Tackling, tackling, tackling... there's more than enough film from this year to show the players the consequences of diving arm tackles. It needs to get fixed. So many extra yards and touchdowns today because guys can't put prey on the ground and try and go high on them.
Lots of missed tackles in this game. Embarrassing

I'm gonna say it our offense was actually worse then our defense in the fact that our D got stops in the 2nd half while the offense didn't score countless times after the D got stops and we were in plus territory.

Rice out played us out coached us from a physical standpoint we got our butts whooped. We're too predictable on offense, running routes short of the sticks we do it every game. Defense is trash we knew that.

Thinking about this more: I just don’t understand kicking the Extra point there, like what’s the expectation? Go score another TD, hit 2 point, then get stop? Thats a lot to go right. You have the ability to win it right there, get the ball in Edwards hands and give him a shot to win it. It’s playing not to lose. Gotta grab the bull by the horns and win it.
Especially when playing a bad team. Rice expects to choke.
