Evers showed progress then completely lost everything. It seems like he's lost. Is Fagnano the answer? Probably not, but I think at this point he's less of liability than Evers. I mean anyone with semi good accuracy in the second half that game turns out to be a blowout in our favor.

So impressed with the defense. Brock is for real.

RBs really wore down Rice as the game went along.

I don’t know what Evers’ strengths are as a thrower but we need to play to them. Mora is obviously sticking with him and Sammis has to find some way to put him in a position to be successful.

At least Evers ran a few times this week, but he looked slow.
Awful call late in the 1st half on Stafford that let Rice out of trouble.
They also have Rice on a play where the QB clearly went out a yard short. Glass that got reversed.
Where is Brett Buckman. We need people to make plays and it sends like he could help Bell.
Saved the best for last. GREAT D today. Lots of blocked passes and tackles for loss or tackles for very little.

I was at the game calling for Fagnano to be in. I have had enough of Evers and he doesn't even to try to read the defense before throwing. He turned the ball over twice(Should of been 3 if the Rice guy could of had that interception) and all his throws were basically off unless the guy was wide open. Time for Joe Fagnano but like others have said Mora is too stubborn to change it. We are wasting an absolutely incredible WR in Bell with Evers as QB.

We pretty much have to spend half our NIL money on the best QB we can get next year and have them compete with Welliver. We can't have another year of this type of QB play

Call me crazy but Sheffield is just as good as Bell and the fact that Evers cant get the ball to either of them and Fagnano was able to against arguably better defenses should be enough to make the change. Did Fagnano piss in Mora's cereal or something?

It sure appears to "old guy" that QB is struggling to complete passes. I would think Mora would switch to JF at if he thought team would do better. He is a veteran coach and I can't believe he doesn't want to put the best players on the field. I did not watch the game, but followed it on ESPN play by play. It was most frustrating to see incomplete pass after incomplete pass. I have to think that if Rice has starting QB it might have been a different outcome. Perhaps someone can post what exactly they believe is going on with the coaching. The D played great. I have never been one to criticize coaches and blame them for the loss, but UC should be playing better then they are in MOP. Last week was on the refs perhaps, but who is it on this week? Thanks for your post and happy for the W.

I have to think he personally doesn't see a big difference between the two and because it's fagnanos last year, he's giving the ball to Evers in the hope he develops. It's clearly not working so I don't get it. If he was just inaccurate and not turnover prone it wouldn't be as bad but he can't hold onto the ball and routinely puts us in bad spots

We left at the half. The D looked pretty good. No other comment other than to say that as we were leaving I ducked into the loo. Waiting in queue to recycle the beer and the guy in front of me turned around and asked if I thought that UConn had gained more than 50 yards in the half. I said that I hadn't seen the stats but that Evers was pretty good at seeing a DB for a couple seconds and then throwing it right to him. Our receivers however he was either overthrowing by a couple feet or behind them. (I see that he improved a bit in the second half.)

Anyone thinking we are going to waltz to 8-4 is not thinking clearly. The next two games are pickems.
I would go as far to say anyone that looks at the schedule and confidently thinks "ooh that's easy, UConn can will win that" has not watched UConn for the last 13 seasons. Just like some might think UConn has winnable games, other teams are looking at their schedules and see UConn think "ooh we can win that one."

I was open to Evers because we ran a lot of misdirection and seemed to confuse the D with him. Those days are over. Everyone knows he can’t throw and we look like crap.

Nick can’t throw and he looks two steps slower than normal. My guess is he’s hurt on top of the fact he can’t throw. I swear I saw him limp a couple of times tonight when he got up and then he caught himself and stopped. Fagnano probably Isn’t going to beat Cuse but he gives us a better shot to beat everyone else.

Our defense, Rice's penalties, and Rice's offensive ineptitude kept us in the game. I'll take a fugly win over a pretty loss, but the last 3 have have shown that offensively we have glaring weaknesses. I'm not sold on Evers and would have liked to have seen Fagnano have a go for a series. Still, we have more wins than last year, and we can possibly exceed our tally from two years ago. Let's go UConn!!!

With the way we've been playing we should be expecting 6-6 and ecstatic for 7-5

That was disgusting I need to take a shower after watching that
The funny thing , if you look at the scores of other games by our opponents, the last few have generally played tougher teams than we have so we are a bit overstating how bad they are. Rice can score better than they showed against us, although i guess the QB hasn’t been the starter. Why was that disgusting? Our D has been quite watchable. The O did enough to win in the second half. Yes, our QB right now is no world beater, but I will take that win any day of the week.

If we want to develop why not throw Cole in? From what I heard in spring he slings the ball well. If he can be more accurate than Evers and not stare down receivers like Fagnano, the run game pops off again

Good team win. Great play by the defense in it's entirety. Want to single out DB play, excellent. Maclean, Brinson, everyone it seemed like. I also want to say I really, really dislike watching Nick Evers play football. He is just not good it's as simple as that really. He's not quick/fast enough to be the "dual threat/runner" he's being scheme as. And he's not accurate enough to stay in the pocket. Oh, and he doesn't improvise and make plays on the move either. Next.
