The woman sitting next to me referred to him as a 12 year old but she was also a URI fan.AZ hated the D and rebounding in the first half our Bigs had trouble with our old 7’0 friend who only made the team picture in 2022.
However they picked it up in the second so I’ll sleep better tonight
Offensively we got a bunch of guys who can play and the second half was fun .
We came at them in waves .
Ball seems to have made a Jump and Nowell has a beautiful stroke and no conscience my kind of guy , but everyone had moments seriously the list of great plays by different guys is head spinning.
The St Mary’s kid who looks very young from afar
will become a crowd favorite Spenceresque
Thank you was just gonna ask!The replay is up on the UConn+ website.
WAIT, wait just one minute: i am the president of the Solo Ball fan club! You can be vice president, but i was there first!!!Warms my heart to see all the Solo love. Welcome to the bandwagon people!
As we all see thoughMahaneyis great too. Solo just looked like that good of a player which is impressive because they looked like the best two on the team tonight.
Rhody got a pretty friendly whistle this game.URI shot 35 FTs to our 11.
Nowell and Ross will see minutes off the bench too.Mahaney, Stewart amd Reed will be first three of the bench.
A guard, a wing, and a big.
We were hacking. Just like practice. I like the aggressiveness.Rhody got a pretty friendly whistle this game.
Samson is NOT a starting center. He is a widget big. Get some dunks. Change of pace. Nothing moreonly complaint: Samson 1 rebound.
No betterHow did Samson look with the additional weight and strength?
We shot twice as many 3’s and had quite a few instances where the big was out of position and someone had to hack. Not particularly surprised there was a big disparity.URI shot 35 FTs to our 11.
Agreed. I was questioning the OP that said Ross would be 7th man.Mahaney, Stewart amd Reed will be first three of the bench.
A guard, a wing, and a big.
That moment was up there for those "if you could change the outcome of one play" hypotheticals. Would have been an all-time great moment if he hit it.Not long ago we had to put on a walk-on for a last second shot against Houston.
Those days are behind us.
Ross won’t be the first guy off the bench but if he continues to play with that kind of motor it’s going to be hard to keep him on it.Agreed. I was questioning the OP that said Ross would be 7th man.
He'd have to start over 2 of Ball, Mahaney, and McNeeley. I just don't see it, considering how well the first 2 played (and the reports of McNeeley in general).I won't be shocked if Ross is starting game 1. His defense was noticeably a level above everyone else, and he can shoot.

Ross plays with a ton of energy, has athleticism, can shoot it. He's so close but I don't think he's put it together yet. He'll play but probably be the 3rd-4th guy off the bench imo. Solo was awesome. Stewart showed some 1 on 1 skill we didn't see last year. Nowell is going to be ready and will be pressing the hell out of our point guards to keep him from taking their minutes. We are deep and the future is bright.
I think we'll get enough offense from the Center position, but defense and rebounding are concerns.
We’re not even in Big East play yet lolURI shot 35 FTs to our 11.
My biggest complaint for Ross was his handle. He lost the ball the first two times he dribbled the ball although it was in traffic. I think he caught the ball with his foot on the sideline as well. Might have been opening game nerves. He lead UConn with 4 turnovers.I won't be shocked if Ross is starting game 1. His defense was noticeably a level above everyone else, and he can shoot.
I could see him taking it from McNeeley. Dan cares about defense, Liam looked bad on that end, Ross looks like the best defender. Both of their main roles on offense is floor spacing. He'd have to start over 2 of Ball, Mahaney, and McNeeley. I just don't see it, considering how well the first 2 played (and the reports of McNeeley in general).
