Rhett Lashlee Gone -- OC at SMU

But we still have Crocker, they can't take that from us.

Have contract details come out yet?
Of course if he just takes the same annual amount he will make more on taxes alone.

Right now, I'm more worried about the recruits more than anything. I hope Edsall has someone good lined up. Wonder if TJ Weist is willing to come back to UConn?
We could have some recruits not show in August like Lagow and sit out a year. I think the only recruit we have a risk on that is signed is Krajewski. Don't think Lashlee was too involved in any others from this current class. I suppose we could worry that Marvin Washington would want to follow him.

If interested, maybe it’s time for Dan O. to step in? NFL pedigree, CT born, RE guy. I think that would alleviate a lot of angst with Lashlee leaving.

I think his family lives in Alabama. There's no way that's the reason though. My guess is that he and RE are very opposite personalities. I get the sense that Lashlee is pretty quiet and soft (not soft in a bad way). Randy can be pretty rigid and Coughlin-esque. I'd guess it just didn't mesh well.
I had made a comment last season that after a couple games where the offense was clearly our best unit, Randy kind of threw him under the bus in the post game presser rather than praise him.

Blaming the offense no huddle for leaving the defense on the field too long and not scoring in the red zone. It was all very strange to me unless they did not interact well. The other factor was whose hire the OC’s (DB) was and whose hire the DC’s (RE) was.
This is a huge loss.

Guys, please stop with the taxes thing. He took a pay cut from Auburn to be here. It wasn't the friggin taxes.

However, SMU has a boatload of money. He may have just doubled his salary...

We can lose to ECU just as well without this guy.

I said it in the other thread, but it's time for UCONN to act like the big boys and bring in Rich Rod st this point.

My guess is that he wanted the South Carolina job but didn't get it. I think he followed the USCe head coach recently and that move was the one that made the most sense.
Yes, I agree with that about SC - he was following several coaches which was odd.

Is Verducci still available?

I've learned an important lesson today. And the lesson is: it's never too early in the day to start drinking my whiskey...

Offensive Analyst/Staffer on Frost's new Nebraska staff

Whoever the next OC is will be the 7th Offensive Coordinator for UConn in 6 years. This program desperately needs stability.

Hope we have a chance to get TJ back. I like the Danny O idea too but maybe he becomes QB coach and develop our young QB's

as a UConn football fan I think what you meant to say is you have been reminded that’s it’s not too early for the whiskey.

"Included in the listed circumstances is "In the event of the Coach's resignation or retirement from University employment or upon his acceptance of other employment (subject to Article 9 herein)."

Article 9 states that Lashlee was required to notify athletic director David Benedict of his intention, in writing, to interview for or negotiate for any other position."

Edsall had a little lead time. This hire will be just as important as the Lashlee hire. Lashlee turned things around in a year. The next person has to keep it going.

I wonder if it was in the works before NLI day and they asked him to wait.

Its fantastic knowing Edsall is all over this. Imagine Diaco trying to scramble to find someone. #Adults
Well, there was only one coach that was a threat to leave and I'm sure Corey saw all the same odd twitter activity we did and moreover - could sense this was pending. If I was Edsall I would have been thinking about his replacement all fall as it was inevitable.

Probably. How many recruits can we peg to Lashlee this cycle anyway; Krajewski and????? Seems like he might be part of the effort for Rayam.

It sucks, but isn't the end of the world. The staff will have picked up quite a bit from him, and there are plenty of other guys out there. I don't think he's the only decent OC in America.

The important thing is whether Randy bought in to that system, and is prepared to bring in somebody to else to run something similar rather than the old ground and pound and throw only on 3rd and long. He has shown a willingness to change and adapt in his 2.0 guise so far. So I hope we will have a new OC that will make us all happy.

Danny O, would be the logical and potentially program saving move.

Whoever we bring in, I think the most important thing is that they run an offense that closely resembles Lashlee's. We're changing systems so frequently and we get screwed because we're always stuck learning the basics and never get beyond that.
