Returning All Americans

.-.
It's safe to say that Sarah will fill that last first team spot. I literally can't imagine another player taking that spot. The only other player I see giving Sarah competition for that spot is her own teammate Azzi.

I think there’s no way Juju plays at all next season. Why risk it for just a few games, on the most optimistic rehab calendar?
Avg acl recovery is about 9 months. She could be back by Jan.

If ND struggles after losing all those players, Hidalgo s stock could drop.

Conversely Latson will get a lot more eyeballs on SC. If she’s the leader of a top 5 team, she’ll be a strong contender for first team.

I'd take Sarah in a minute over Booker, but there is already two spots open on the first team. The vacant (Paige spot) and the JuJu spot due to her injury

.-.
Sarah won’t be 2nd team next season

No she won't. JuJu will not play and if she does it will be late in the season ala Aubrey. She will likely not play at all and if she does it will not be enough for an AA nod. Why is Azzi always overlooked? She will be first team AA as well with Sarah. She will be the best 2 guard in the country and only stronger next year and getting more shots without Paige and KC in the guard positions. Plus her defense is top tier. I mean, she was MOP. Doesn't that mean anything? She has the best release in women's basketball and even Steph Curry has commented on it. I don't get it both in the national press and sometimes even on this site.

At what speed, what timing, what condition? If you talk to anyone who has had it, it's usually a second year back to true form injury.
This is my expectation, too. She could well return in January, though that's optimistic. But as you say, returning and returning to AA form are two very different things. I suppose Juju wouldn't care about burning the possibility of a red shirt season, since I doubt she'd want to delay entering the W. It might even be a good idea to use next spring to get ready for the following season.

1st team - Azzi, Sarah, Madison, Hannah, and Lauren. 2nd team - Mikayla, Serah, Olivia, Flaujea, and Crooks.
I don't think Latson makes first or second team, simply because her numbers will drop in SC's system. I don't see ND making a run at the ACC title, nor do I think they will make it past the sweet 16 of the NCAA tournament and this will hurt Hidalgo's stock. With the roster they have now, I don't even see ND winning 20 games next year. Also, Juju will not and should not play next season. The worst thing for her to do, would be to rush back.

Will be tough for JuJu to make first team I think. So really two vacant spots on 1st team
i would say 5 ... let's let 'em earn it in the new season. (i expect too much :(, i guess.)

Early predictions:
1st Team:
Hannah Hidalgo (Notre Dame)
Sarah Strong (UCONN)
Lauren Betts (UCLA)
Flaujae Johnson (LSU)
Olivia Miles (TCU)

2nd Team:
Madison Booker (Texas)
Taniya Larson (SC)
Azzi Fudd (UCONN)
Mikayla Blakes (Vandy)
Khamil Pierre (Vandy)

3rd Team:
Raegan Beers (Oklahoma)
Mikaylah Williams (LSU)
Jazzy Davidson (USC)
Rori Harmon (Texas)
Joyce Edwards (SC)

Keep an eye on:
Serah Williams, UCONN
Chloe Kitts, South Carolina
Gianna Kneepkens, UCLA
MiLaysia Fulwiley, LSU
Talaysia Cooper, Tennessee
Kiki Rice, UCLA
Cotie McMahon, Ole Miss
Jaloni Cambridge, Ohio State
Toby Fournier, Duke
Audi Crooks, Iowa State
Aaliyah Chavez, Oklahoma

If we’re doing predictions, I expect both Sarah and Serah to be AAs. My suspicion is Serah will really expand her game at UConn from what it was at Wisconsin. With two awesome scorers playing next to her, it’s hard to imagine she’ll regress.

Jazzy? That's pretty high.

Her returning even by midseason would not be on the most optimistic rehab calendar. There are many players who have returned in seven months or less. It all depends on whether there are other issues and whether she wants to push the rehab.

One example that many UConn fans will remember is Jessica Moore. She was injured in the championship game in April 2024 and played in the first game in November later in 2024. Less than seven months from surgery to playing in a real game. And there have been a number of documented cases of football players returning in less than six months.

I doubt that juju will have a turnaround that fast, but it is certainly very possible to do it in nine months or less.

2024???

I will be shocked if she plays at all next season. Imo it would be irresponsible and foolish for the school to even allow it. From what I have read, it is widely accepted now that 12 months is the minimum for a full recovery from an acl injury. Why would they take a chance with a “generational” player like JuJu and even if she did not reinjure herself what could they possibly gain from it? Imagine the furor if they played her and she blew out the same knee! First, it would be a tragedy for JuJu but then the school would face a monstrous lawsuit that they would almost certainly lose, they would be reviled as the people that destroyed JuJu’s career, and the entire coaching staff (and others) would likely lose their jobs. I don’t think we’ll see JuJu on the court again until 26-27.

Totally agree with most of what you've said. There is absolutely no reason for JuJu to even attempt at returning for any part of next season. USC isn't going anywhere next year, I don't see them even making the playoffs.

Might be, but freshmen have regularly made AA teams for a while now (4 of the last 5 years) and she’s well positioned to be a go to player from day 1 and is the top incoming recruit.

If Betts isn't injured, she's a shoo-in. I think the same is true of Sarah. This leaves three 1st team spots for Booker, Hidalgo, Azzi, Miles, Mikayla, Ta'Niya, Joyce, and Flau'jae to compete for.

Have I forgotten anyone?
