We don't owe New England basketball anything.

No we don't……..but it would be real nice to have a rivalry somehow someway…….not going to happen in the AAC so getting regional excitement would help of rthe fans who like some "road trips" every year!

I remember probably 10-11 years ago CCSU had a string of a few good years, made a couple NCAAs, I think even had like a 19 game winning streak at point. Well we played them and people were all like "oooowwww I bet Central gives them a run for their money!" And we beat them by 20-25 pts. I do wish one of the other 6 D1 instate schools could rise to a VCU or Butler type level. That would be interesting. Wouldn't happen though.
Comparing CCSU's basketball program to the UMass program is misleading. UMass is almost three times larger than CCSU and is the flag ship school for the state. The level of play and support is clearly at a much higher level than CCSU. I doubt that UMass would fail to give UConn a good game on a regular basis.

Cons: Cloth Frog comes back. I think Yonick will agree with me on that note.
Amen, joober. He's been very quiet over the past 4-5 months. I remember him after we won our 1st NC. He was UMfan then. He's changed his handle 8-9 times after each time he was banned.
My guess is if we meet in the tourney he'll be back.

Providence is mildly appealing since they at least now appear to have the program off the mat under Cooley. I have no idea what incentive UConn would have to play UMass on the road - more than likely, they'd have a mediocre team, but the entire University would treat it as their Super Bowl and we'd have our hands full.
Providence would be a good addition. As travel becomes more draining PC would be a good a opponent.

Playing in Boston and NYC against local teams makes sense from so many reasons. Big interest big crowds big media big money
