We'll see where he ends up, but it'll bum me out if we see him playmaking and shooting 3s somewhere next year.

I think there is some shooting ability that’s going to be unlocked. Just not sure if it’s next season or not. Have we ever had true stretch 5 at uconn? It’s seems like we have always been super old school with our centers playing style (which I’m fine with). But our offense often has the center catch at the top of the key. If not a shooting threat teams usually know he’s just there to reverse the ball

If I am Hurley, why even recruit more than 1 HS kid a year? Go all in on an elite 5 star like Castle/McNeeley/Mullins who you know will start freshman year.

These 4star guys who aren't good enough to start early on in the career end up leaving after 1 year because they are looking for an easier path. Waste of everyones time.

Problem was when we were putting him in games he was either fouling a lot of being scored on by stronger players. He just didn't deserve the minutes as the year went on.

I remember a couple of games where he picked up 2 or 3 fouls in a couple of minutes forcing Danny to put Reed back in. He definitely regressed during the BE games though - too physical for him?

Hurley told him that he'd be recruiting a starting big over him. It sucks, but we can find a comparable back up big.

He did not earn the right to be penciled in as the starter next year. If it’s about how he wants to play he needs to leave. We run sets. Bigs screen roll to the rim.

But I think he has read too much Chief00 and has soured on the high hedge.

Outside of Sanogo, AK, and Jackson our best players during this historical run have all been 1 and 2 year players- Clingan, Castle, Cam, Tristen, Tarris, Hawkins, Silas, McNeeley, Braylon.

I know a lot of our success the last few years has been due to transfers, and very likeable ones, but having a least a few key players being around for.more than a year or two I still think is important to the culture and making the game fun to watch. I hope we don't fully lose that.

And I am sorry, I am not magnanimous about people transferring out of the program without really giving it a chance (Nowell, Abraham, now Reibe). To them, don't let the door hit you on your way out.

Fwiw, never really thought he was a Hurley kind of big.

Outside of OAD-types, Hurley has initially struggled a bit at figuring out what kind of high school prospect he was to recruit for the new offense. They had been working with what they had on hand during the championship runs and then the staff seemed to try to find the "Ideal" players for the new offense. Then Mahaney happened and he decided to go back to trying to recreate what brought the championships (bringing in Silas).

The Reibe recruitment dates back to the "Ideal" player period. I think Reibe did us a favor and Hurley can go back to big post players that excel at the rim offensively and/or defensively.

The team building strategy is clear…need to use the portal for centers and point guards that take longer to develop and only bring in 2’s/3’s/4’s from HS unless they are top 15-20 one and done talents.

Wasn't impressed by Reibe much at all; especially being a McDonald's AA.

He had some flashes early in the season, but his play degraded during the season.

Too foul prone and never displayed the touted Euro bigman skillset.

Everyone assumed playing time, but the word I saw used was usage.

I thought at the time I saw that, he ( and/or his family) views himself a euro center out on the perimeter. He sees how we employ our 5's down in the low block and that's not him. You see his lack of rebounding, which is want to, as well. I think this is clearly the reason.

Makes me wonder what he was told at recruiting. And more importantly what they think they heard.

Worth noting. Hurley and his staff have had end of season debriefs with all the players, told them what is expected in off-season and what role the staff is projecting for next season.

Need to limit and be very precise with any HS recruiting. Bringing in two kids that are ready to contribute immediately, starter or bench, is the way to go.
