The lack of real bball knowledge on this board is staggering. Reibe is gonna be a stud.Scott Hazelton 2.0

We’re not gonna get two A-tier centers in the portal. We’ll get a starter from this bunch and then hopefully a B-tier guy to be the backup, and a Koroma-style deep reserve behind them.Sin Reibe, ¿por qué no los dos?
You know that he canWe can't do a whole summer of this.
In those 5-7 minutes he would sometimes pick up 4 foulsI do think we should have found him more minutes, there were some games down the stretch where he only saw the floor for 5-7 minutes when I think he should of been more in the 10-15 min per game, every game.
That being said, he regressed throughout the year and for his 7'1" size, he was one of the worst rebounders I have ever seen.
Best of luck to him when he's not playing against Uconn. We really need to land a big time transfer center now.
So you did not watch our games this year? JkNeed 2 bigs now. I haven’t watched either of these guys so I don’t know anything about their size and skill sets
One from the portal givesIf he were to leave would we want two bigs from the portal or one from the portal and one from the high school ranks?
The usual "perfumed" suspects: Cooley and Pitino. I think Boeheim was included when coaching. Is that Ed Cooley stink again that I smell ?
This is not particularly surprising. My gut sense is that this has as much to do with how he wants to play as how much he wants to play.
We'll see where he ends up, but it'll bum me out if we see him playmaking and shooting 3s somewhere next year.
Not with that kind of negative attitude. They wouldn’t both come
Who is the family? Lol. People keep mentioning that. For me, I'm asking more in the sense that, unless they are NBA or WNBA stars or upper-level EuroLeague, do they really have the audacity? Hurley and staff probably know what they are doing, lol.If the rumors we heard are true his family felt like he should of played more minutes this year and didn't like how he was being used.
For sure! This idiot coaching staff is clueless at the wheel as usual. Then it’s shame on the coaching staff who had a year every day to accurately evaluate his skill set, turns into that guy.
He’s a former 5* AA. Hes going to start for another P5 just fine.Yeah, as I said in the other post. He probably needs to step down a level if he wants to start. It seems like his family is trying to get to get more playing time(if the rumors we heard were true) which he would have got this year if he stayed even if still a backup. No way he deserved a lot more minutes this year than he got with Reed here if we were serious on winning.
$$$ is whyWe are currently at "why not both?"
Why would Silas leave? I just don’t see it. If the staff retains Mullins, that would be a W.He’s a former 5* AA. Hes going to start for another P5 just fine.
Pretty disappointing. If we don’t get him and Silas back it’s a pretty big blow to the continuity we like to have for next season.
He has a lot of potential clearly. He might even realize that potential next season. But it was going to be a really big gamble to build the team assuming he’d play 25 per game next season. Hurley had to hedge against that and bring in a starting caliber big and clearly Reibe did not want that.I think he is certainly far from a bust. He developed very quickly early in the season and gave us some great minutes when Reed was injured. I think the problem was his lack of minutes as the season went caused him to regress a bit or at least not get to where we’d like to have seen him by the end of the year. Definitely needs to bulk up a bit and avoid foul when he defends. He might have been another season away from being a full time guy, but I’d love to have him bulk up and give us 15 minutes a game. He may think he offers someone else more. He could start his junior year with some more experience.
Waste of everyone's time? He played in every single game this year for a team that went to the national championship game and started a few while Reed was out. He served his purpose this year. If he was a one year back up -- well, so were Lansah Kromah and Joey California. If I am Hurley, why even recruit more than 1 HS kid a year? Go all in on an elite 5 star like Castle/McNeeley/Mullins who you know will start freshman year.
These 4star guys who aren't good enough to start early on in the career end up leaving after 1 year because they are looking for an easier path. Waste of everyones time.
I agreeThe lack of real bball knowledge on this board is staggering. Reibe is gonna be a stud.
It’s disappointing because what the coaching staff wants from him is the part of his game that he needed to work on most. And we were capable of developing that for him.Totally agree. UConn doesn't play 5-out on offense. They want the center to either set screens and/or provide scoring down-low.
My guess is that despite the Arizona game, the coaching staff told him that they don't want him shooting threes or a midrange game.
And all he had to do was look at DC and Sanogo to see in UConn’s offense his role wasn't going to expand to take advantage of his shooting skills.
My guess is that he’s going to go to a program that is going to utilize his skill set rather than limiting it.
Simply doesn’t appear have anything to do with playing time, which he would get plenty of next year.
I don’t disagree with you. I wish he would be more patient. He clearly needs another year at the backup. Me, I’d take 15 minutes a game with Hurley rather than move. But I’m 65 years old and only 6 feet tall so no one’s asking me.He has a lot of potential clearly. He might even realize that potential next season. But it was going to be a really big gamble to build the team assuming he’d play 25 per game next season. Hurley had to hedge against that and bring in a starting caliber big and clearly Reibe did not want that.
Hines averaged 6ppg on a bad seton hall team. I know he can block shots, but it doesn’t seem like he has much of an offensive game. I don’t get why he’s our top C targetHines from seton hall has 3 years of eligibility remaining js
