Reibe in the portal

Just saw - not surprised. The more the year went, the more something felt amiss.

UConn is going to have to open up the purse for bigs this year. Not great that they have to go head to head with some heavyweights.

I guess he didn't want to be an effen Husky for more than a year.

Not surprising given the rumblings we heard throughout the year, but surprising given the objective reality of being a solid backup and in line to compete for major minutes.

Maybe he felt he was likely to be recruited over and didn't want to deal with the competition?

He may have wanted more minutes at the end of this season, but he certainly didn’t earn them with his play.

This was a tough one because I’m sure he wants a full-time starting role guarantee, but too risky to promise him that and not bring in any competition based on his performance.

Disappointing--he was poised to get some serious minutes next year. Gotta be thankful for what he accomplished during that stretch without Reed.

I wonder if the staff had a different vision for him (back up to a transfer) than he was hoping for (starting). Unfortunately, he had a weak senior year of high school and a pretty bland freshman year. The things we need in a big first and foremost--rebounding, positional defense, and shotblocking--are not his strengths.

Like I've said before. This is UConn basketball. If you don't want to earn your spot, then this isn't the place for you. Best of luck.

I think we’ll be ok. oh and we’re at the top of the heavyweights list so they should fear going up against us as much if not more so.

Not fully surprised on this one.

Yeah, as I said in the other post. He probably needs to step down a level if he wants to start. It seems like his family is trying to get to get more playing time(if the rumors we heard were true) which he would of got this year if he stayed even if still a backup. No way he deserved a lot more minutes this year than he got with Reed here if we were serious on winning.

I'd like to know after all said done how many kids who enter the portal just to test the waters end up going back to their original school. He might just be seeing if there's more money in a guarantee or more playing time somewhere else if he's leaving, I'm hoping he's going to BC.

I'm not surprised. Thanks for all he did early in the early season to get us to where we were. My guess is he and his camp wanted starter's minutes that the staff would not promise. My opinion - his best chance at developing was to stay, but clearly he thinks differently

Was expecting this one- told a couple at the final four that we should expect Reibe to transfer- unfortunately was never able to buy into the program/culture- huge talent- will be missed- but hopefully forgotten.

I found him to be a miss of a recruit from the start. Lot's of chatter early around him having a nice jump shot - not sure that is ever priority for any 5, nevermind a Uconn 5. Maybe he wants to go somewhere he can play more of a stretch role.

He had some really nice games early, then tapered off drastically towards the end of the year. Some of the fouling he was doing was borderline lazy, like he didn't care. The kid was averaging a foul a minute at times.

Best of luck - let's hope we land someone really good, it's a vital position. If we now have to go into next year a new big and PG, that is a tough place to start.

Does it? Might just mean it wasn’t a good fit or he likes Luke Murray
Of course it means that's the plan. It's our biggest need; we have no players at the position currently. Now we need to execute on that plan.
