Me, either. He was happy to be a ******* Husky.Oof.
I actually was not expecting that.

Which is ironic, as his parents felt he should’ve played more in the second half of that game.In the championship game he looked like the only kid on the floor who didn't belong there. Very slow, very hesitant, and really looked like that for a while. Everyone develops differently, but lately he hasn't really looked like someone to count on as a "sure thing".
Better for us to have 2 quality bigs fighting for time.Huge loss. He’s going to be good. Fortunately, we will probably get a better player in his place. We now need 2 true bigs and 1-2 PFs. Lots of openings.
Yep he had good games against Arizona, Florida, Kansas, 1st Illinois game, and Providence OT game. He has good hands and finished well around the rim. Probably a good 3pt shooter if given the chance. What bothered me is that he played really well early on and then regressed. He will be a good player for someone. Shame.
Would bet very surprised if he did. Good player…yes. Stud…noThe lack of real bball knowledge on this board is staggering. Reibe is gonna be a stud.
What's also strange about the minutes thing is that he often came close to fouling out in 10 minutes.I'm not sure if he didn't want to compete for minutes, if he was just frustrated with his role this year, both or something else entirely.
But if he is worried about being recruited over then fine, leave. We're going to bring in a talented big man, we always have since we brought in Clingan with Adama. None of the other guys were scared of the competition, if he is he doesn't have the mental makeup I want in one of our bigs. He seemed soft and intimidated at times this year, especially at points in the tourney. Not trying to bash him that's just my honest assessment from afar.
As many are fond of saying on here... NEXT.
He was completely overwhelmed during the NC gameIn the championship game he looked like the only kid on the floor who didn't belong there. I don’t think it actually tells us anything. You don’t know this to be true, this is an assumption. He didn't want to compete for minutes (without Reed) so tells us everything .
The family didn’t know we had a stud senior center who Hurley said was the key to our success.Who is the family? Lol. People keep mentioning that. For me, I'm asking more in the sense that, unless they are NBA or WNBA stars or upper-level EuroLeague, do they really have the audacity? Hurley and staff probably know what they are doing, lol.
Didn’t he know that coming in? It’s been pretty evident that’s what Danny expects from his posts. His transfer may have little to do with Hurley or playing time. It may have everything with getting mugged every night in the Big East. Who wants a forty minute wrestling match when he can go to a nicer climate and play in a league where he can develop his skills unmolested. Reibe is a very good player and a tremendous loss. Maybe, he did not like the high hedge? Frankly, I wonder why anyone who has options would chose to be beaten up while playing hoops. Reibe's game is finesse not wrestling.
College basketball is no longer what it was. We bring in players for one year for a fixed amount of money, and then they become free agents to go wherever they want and their former school can offer them more or less. If a player worth $750k leaves, you’ve saved that money and now spent it on a replacement.Eh, I get what he’s saying.
He was somewhat useful this season but a McD AA Center usually isn’t giving you his best output frosh year. We recruited him to be our center going forward, not to give us 5-8 minutes of foul time.
We recruit and help develop and then they leave unless they’re super studs, so I get being frustrated and thinking only recruiting 5* impact starters makes sense.
Then Dan recruited the wrong profile. Hit rate at the HS level lately hasn't been great. MrDownunder has some valid points.Didn’t he know that coming in? It’s been pretty evident that’s what Danny expects from his posts.

My point (beyond that he contributed to an outstanding season this year) is we paid him an amount for this year that we agreed upon and if he came back next year he’d get what the market thinks is the right price for him next year. If we don’t retain him we get someone else. That’s the new reality.
Lmao Eric Reibe cost us the championship….for sure…100%I agree with the “it looked like he didn’t care” down the stretch. Might have cost us the 1 seed and the natty.
Will be an interesting question on if you don't have a lot of continuity, do you have to augment your offensive strategy? We all just saw Michigan’s mercenaries win a title. The negative is that he knew Hurley’s system and now 2 new bigs have to learn it. This is what St. John’s is doing every year and we will be too. Next shoe to drop?
There is no chance we get “two quality bigs” have you read what one is going for?Better for us to have 2 quality bigs fighting for time.
I don't think there is a next shoe to drop and this really wasn't surprising. We all just saw Michigan’s mercenaries win a title. The negative is that he knew Hurley’s system and now 2 new bigs have to learn it. This is what St. John’s is doing every year and we will be too. Next shoe to drop?
How do we define mercenaries? Anyone who signs through the portal? We all just saw Michigan’s mercenaries win a title. The negative is that he knew Hurley’s system and now 2 new bigs have to learn it. This is what St. John’s is doing every year and we will be too. Next shoe to drop?
This was very much the impression I got. Very often it seemed like he just wanted to foul quickly so he could go sit back down...it took effort to foul that much.He had some really nice games early, then tapered off drastically towards the end of the year. Some of the fouling he was doing was borderline lazy, like he didn't care. The kid was averaging a foul a minute at times.
One quality big and one 6'9" C/F who can shoot and rebound and defend (or 2 out of the 3) would help and might be attainable. Or, a Dejuan Blair type for one of them. There is no chance we get “two quality bigs” have you read what one is going for?
When a guy’s “people” are saying in mid-season he should be playing more, of course he is going. This is the least surprising decision I can imagine. That's a shock ! At least very surprising !
Define "officially."Nowell, McNeeley, Abraham, Reibe.
We await Mullins and Furphy. Once the Fab 5 runs their course, Hurley is going to have nothing to carryover. It's going to be the incoming freshmen and whatever transfers he bring in this year. The whole look and feel we've had with these longer terms kids is officially gone.
Rosters are built differently. 5 of our 8 top players came in organically through our system. For our last title, it was also 5/8. For Michigan and St. John’s, I believe it’s been zero. How do we define mercenaries? Anyone who signs through the portal?
Its surprising that now that Reed is not there he chooses not to continue . When he committed he knew Reed would.be there . Now that the road is clear, he wants out. When a guy’s “people” are saying in mid-season he should be playing more, of course he is going. This is the least surprising decision I can imagine.
