Yes!!! I was just thinking this while reading your post.Is it me, or even in their limited time does it seem like he and Mullins have developed a little chemistry playing together?
Just enjoying watching the kid's development. Enjoying while I can. One of best and worst things about college basketball is how quickly a kid's college career goes by. We get to see them develop, leave and repeat with some new kids.
Just give him a green light to shoot. He's actually been making them.Reibe has been great so this is not a knock on him, but I have no idea what people have been watching wanting to see him play the 4. The defense is already playing 10 feet off him at the 5 and packing the paint, putting him at the 4 would be a disaster offensively with even less room to operate on offense
And then he hit someone with a perfect pass for a layup.Gotta kick out of Reibe directing traffic at the top of the key with the ball in his hands so that he could create passing lanes for the cutters. Small sample size of things to come.
Absolutely-Think it might have been SoloAnd then he hit someone with a perfect pass for a layup.
I’m curious how much is confidence vs game plan. He definitely ended up with the ball in some late shot clock scenarios where he was unguarded. The one of those he took confidently, he made. If he can take and make some more of those, those opposing centers are going to have to start creeping further and further away from the basket.Just give him a green light to shoot. He's actually been making them.
The defensive improvement has been blatantly apparent. I’m kind of astounded at how quickly he has improved in that area because that can often be a bigger adjustment for freshmen bigs. His rate of improvement has been incredible.Reibe's improvement has been a joy to watch. [As well as the whole team's improvements]
Here's how we did with him on/off the court for the first 6 games of the season (data from HoopExplorer...simple note for reading these data---the darker green, the better that stat relative to D1 averages. The ranks for some are listed below the data points. ):

And here's us the last 6 games (note that the last 6 games are also much tougher overall competition):

The defensive improvement is actually astounding. From 115.5 Adj Pts allowed/100 possessions down to 87.6 Adj Pts/100. Rim protection is actually astounding. #1 ranked defense for 2Pt% and Rim% with him on the court. Offensive performance has also improved from 119.8 to 127.8 Adj Pts/100.
Tarris has the physical ability, it's the other stuff that seems to prevent him from being perceived as a higher level prospect. In the ESPN Top 100 NBA Draft Prospects Reibe is ranked 37. Others - Mullins 10, Karaban 35, Ball 53, and Reed 70.

His age and style of play is what prevents him from being perceived as a higher level prospect. Born in the wrong decade.Tarris has the physical ability, it's the other stuff that seems to prevent him from being perceived as a higher level prospect.
His lack of a 3 pt shot you mean. He is a poor man's Adama SanogoHis age and style of play is what prevents him from being perceived as a higher level prospect. Born in the wrong decade.
6'10 big/bulky back to the basket guys aren't in fashion in the NBA and haven't been for a while. Despite that I do think he'll stick in the league and I think he's a little better than Adama. His lack of a 3 pt shot you mean. He is a poor man's Adama Sanogo
Funny I would say Adama is a little better than Tarris6'10 big/bulky back to the basket guys aren't in fashion in the NBA and haven't been for a while. Despite that I do think he'll stick in the league and I think he's a little better than Adama.
As a college player, no question Adama was more effective. As an NBA prospect, Tarris is a little better.Funny I would say Adama is a little better than Tarris
As an NBA prospect Tarris has the advantages over Adama, with healthy legs/wheels he's much better equipped to switch, defend in space, and protect the rim. Right now he's still laboring a bit due to the injuries.Funny I would say Adama is a little better than Tarris
Tarris hasn't had nearly the chance Adama had here. He had to split his minutes straight up with Samson last season and the only time we saw him at full strength so far this season was the first two cupcakes and BYU before he got injured in the game.As a college player, no question Adama was more effective. As an NBA prospect, Tarris is a little better.
I dont think we`ve seen the best of Tarris. At least i hope we havent. I think hes a guy who could dominate games offensively and defensively if he plays to his full potential. Hes very talented big man.Funny I would say Adama is a little better than Tarris

Agreed. Sanogo is a little smaller than Reed but Sanogo's footwork was far superior. Reed is bigger and probably a little stronger but don't discount Sanogo's accomplishments. Without him I don't think UCONN wins National Championship number 5. If Reed can do the same then perhaps my opinion of him will change but until then we need to respect Sanogo a little bit more.Funny I would say Adama is a little better than Tarris
