Rye-bayI’ve been dreaming of Reibe at the 4 since he signed! By the way, is it Ry-bah or Ryb? Thought we had it as Rybah early on, announcers all say Ryb.

When he says his own name I hear RYE-beh. Maybe comes off as a bit towards RYE-buh, but never RYE-bee and never REE-bee.
This will for sure clear it up...
Purphy has a great quick release. He’s going to help us. His ability to play D will be key.
We have no backup 5. We have other dudes who can play the 4I’ve been dreaming of Reibe at the 4 since he signed! By the way, is it Ry-bah or Ryb? Thought we had it as Rybah early on, announcers all say Ryb.
I thought I heard either Reibe himself or someone in the know say it's promounced Ry-ba. For what it's worth, I took German in high school and unlike English, where words are inconsistently pronounced regardless of the spelling, German words are always consistently pronounced. "ei" combination is always pronounced "I" and an "e" at the end of a word is always pronounced "ah", so I'd be very surprised if it is not an emphatic Ry-ba when it's all "said" and done. So, after four games Furphy is the fourth leading scorer in the event (third in total points) in 36 MPG, and Reibe is 11th in 23 MPG.
Furphy is shooting 48/42/70
Reibe is shooting 60/29/54
Youtube announcers are saying one, and the arena announcer (in background) is saying the other. I have no clue which is correct.

Haha, in my head I mispronounce his last name as Reeb. By the time the season starts. UConn we have the pronunciation guide up on the roster website and that will resolve any debate as to how to say his name. I checked yesterday and it's not up yet.you say never ree-bee, but inevitably that will be what he is called in my head until at least midway through the season when I've heard his name spoken 1,000x. That's the exact number things will change in my dopey brain.
So right now, he's Eric Ree-bee. But just to me.
Actually, I'm going to call him Ree-Bee and call Furphy "Furph" just like I would someone named Murph. So really, I'm pretty twisted up here.
I hate the entire concept of pickle ball.
It's not that deep, I should have put "lol" after the first line in my postHonestly, it’s just not that important to me or most people.
It’s a u19 tournament, I don’t take that much pride in my country for winning these things. A major Olympic tournament is different.
Nope, it’s fun. This may be the first time we agreed on something. What an awful sport
But will all of us spell his last name correctly? I'm assuming nobody will mess up his first name. Although around here you never know....Haha, in my head I mispronounce his last name as Reeb. You realize that I was writing a phonetic pronunciation in that post, right? But will all of us spell his last name correctly? I'm assuming nobody will mess up his first name. Although around here you never know....![]()
It is kind of a no-win/no-lose situation. To see them lose is rather fun because I don't care for most of them (to put it politely). But I am still not over '72, so....A major Olympic tournament is different.
Yes, I realized that. That's why the conjunction "but" lead off the sentence. You realize that I was writing a phonetic pronunciation in that post, right?
In any event, I will offer that you're being the self-appointed name police has gotten tired. Just my opinion.
He'll play backup 5 the vast majority of the time, although I suspect he will see some spot time at the 4 depending on the situation (fouls, opponents, etc.) Unlike the last three years, Riebe actually has the skills to play the 4. Depending on how he develops and what our future recruiting looks like, its also possible he could be the 4 down the road.We have no backup 5. We have other dudes who can play the 4
FIFYThis may be the first time we agreed on something. What an awfulsportgame.
Not offended, so much by bored by it. It was funny at first, now it's just obnoxious. Just my opinion. You seem offended by my sharing it with you. Not my intention.Yes, I realized that. That's why the conjunction "but" lead off the sentence.
At this point it's just a running joke since I don't think I've actually pointed out anyone spelling a player's name wrong in a long time. Kind of like the joke about PC having just as much of a chance as anyone. Sorry if it offended you. It's obvious why it did.
Here's Adam Finkelstein pronouncing his last name correctly. Surprised there is so much confusion on this.Haha, in my head I mispronounce his last name as Reeb. By the time the season starts. correct. Also, NCAA basketball NIL/revenue sharing salary is paying more than the minor league versions, or whatever you want to call them, of the pro teams over there such as Barcelona, Real Madrid, etc. That means those younger top players in Europe will come here to the States to play in college basketball. If UConn doesn't keep international recruiting as a staple, other schools will fill the gap.International has gotta be a recruiting staple going forward. More and more talent coming from overseas and they don't need the kind of polishing a lot of AAU prospects do.
