So with Purvis, Hamilton, and now Lubin in the fold, where do we sit currently? Barring the inevitable future recruits we'll be involved with, we are still in good spots with Kasongo, Robinson, Colson, Cassell Jr., and maybe Lyle ... we have 2 schollies filled and only 2 left assuming DD and Boat stay. Are we banking on at least one being gone and handing out 5 or are we going for whoever commits first and leaving everyone else out to dry. How are we going to handle this going forward? My dream is that we get Cassell, Robinson, and Kasongo/Colson ... but I feel like that's almost forcing RB and DD to go pro by handing their scholarships out.

It doesnt force Boat or DD to do anything its obviously their choice. Remember when UConn got Drummond they didnt have any scholarships available and that was 2 days before the semester started. All these things end up working out somehow. Whether its transfers, or going pro early, when you have a guy like Robinson that we are pursuing we don't stop going after him because of a lack of scholarships.

I think DD leaving is almost a sure thing, Boat leaving is odds on. This assumes no injuries and a good year for the team.

KO will talk to DD about his plans before giving out a fifth scholarship, but don't be surprised if we sign Cassell Jr and either Devin Robinson or, if we don't get Robinson, Kasongo in the November signing period.

we have 4 known ships available for 14-15 and they have filled 2 of them, not 3

Is still adding Robinson Kasongo and Cassell not out of the question?

We are losing Olander, Kromah, Shabazz, and Niels next year right? That's 4 scholarships and we have only 2 recruits so far. (Purvis already on a ship) so I dont see why we couldnt sign 3 more guys assuming at least one of boat and dd goes pro if not both.

I think we'll end up "missing" a few of these guys, and sign two more, them DD goes pro and Boat comes back. It's hard to speculate on Boat now but I think he'll be in a Shabazz type situation where a Senior year might help him. So if we get 2 of the 4 (Cassell, Kasongo, Robinson, Colson) I'd be really excited. I think Cassell is priority #1 right now, then probably Robinson ... Colson and Kasongo would just fortify the front court rotation of Nolan/Facey/Brimah/Lubin

Counting scholarships in September is a waste of time.

We need a true PG as opposed to a combo guard and we need a very good one. All in all, a very good recruiting year for KO and staff. Keep em' coming!

I agree- it would be great to great another big body but we need a high level guard in the worst way. Like Fishy mentioned-we do not need a project- we need a stud.

Right now T. Samuel is clearly the best defensive guard on the roster @ 6'4/190. Unlike Bazz and Boat (periodically) this kid will get over screens and defend the 3 and straight up be in ur jock. It could be Samuel guarding an opponents best perimeter talent if our other guards start falling asleep at the wheel defensively. TS is not a good defender. He actually is a borderline great defender right now. With the New Rens he was a menace defensively. Fun to watch composed solid D.

Quick to dismiss this kid unless you appreciate the value of a tough physical defensive guard. He is just serviceable on the offensive end right now but match-ups dictate a players value. With Jones, Smith, Dixon, Jackson in the AAC... Samuel arguably will provide a needed defensive presence.

He has a great future ahead at UConn...an indispensable type piece to a championship puzzle.

Remember Ricky Moore in 1999 NC game- kinda nice to have a lock down defender.

DD and Boat are gone after this year. They won't be great or even good NBA players.

Do you really think Boatright will buy his good buddies (AO) pitch to play overseas after his Junior year? I doubt it. Daniels is a lean to return also right now but that def could change with an All American type season which is possible.

Boatright was considering leaving after his Freshmen year. I hope he stays, but I know tempting it is to take the leap.

People really hark on Samuel. He will be good.

But hopefully we get Robinson and Lyle. Lyle is probably a long-shot, but at least Cassell is still open.

Completely buy Samuel having a high ceiling. I'm thinking kasongo + cassell jr. And let's call it a day. Dham and the latter bring enough offense, while the two bigs bring size and physicality. We also have junior and possible senior year calhoun, a guy who could turn into a number 1 option.

Not picking on you but we've been through this. Boat will leave the first opportunity he gets. His goal, first and foremost, is to get to the league, and once he smells it - hes gone. What makes you think that DeAndre is a lean to return right now?

Does anyone "in the know" know if the Lubin commitment affects our recruitment of Kasongo or Colson? Are we still trying to convince them to come here or do you think we have backed off? Read another article (who knows about it's credibility, from a KY hoops site, see below) that says he may make his decision tomorrow. Would seem to have to be either us or Oregon. Just hoping that we haven't backed off on him with the Lubin commit - kid seems like he has some solid potential and is a different type player than Lubin.

I'm not dismissing Samuel and I'm glad we have him but he does not look to have the quickness of a big time PG needed to lead the team. This doesn't mean I think he can't contribute because he can but just as not the #1 option at PG. If he can become a Ricky Moore lock down defender and a 2nd PG option all the better.

Thanks for not picking on me bro :)! The last time that happened it was my good buddies fluedy & mauconn who brought FEAR FACTOR to unprecedented heights. Both of those guys made Guinness Book by throwing the most consecutive water balloons in a 30 second time period. The goal of which was to crack human skull. Obviously it worked and my brain took a beating. If I was in Vegas and a gambling man (which of course I am not :)) the odds of a Boat return on the Money Line would be -475 favorite to return and + 380 to play in Europe. Those are some strong odds in your favor bro. Daniels?? -165 favorite to return to UConn on the ML and +145 to go to the NBA. Much closer call.

On a lighter note...big sigh as fear regresses. If I revealed my sources BIG RED might put the hammer down on my . Have you ever seen the look in BIG RED's eyes when anger takes over his body???

Of course you haven't because this is the only sight we usually see (Love sum Big R!!):

That's a very strong statement, what makes you say that? Just because he is 6'4", 190 lbs? I know plenty of guys that size that couldn't guard anyone at this level. Reports seem to indicate he may lack some quickness.
