Just wondering if someone actually said he was a "bust"? I didn't see that one....what I do see is a lot of people wondering why the obvious struggle is happening and for good reason. We are fans after all and they have more than one player on the bench.........I am sure everyone joins me in saying we don't think he could ever be a bust and we just hope he gets back to making plays and gains his confidence back!

Anyone saying "bust" is nuts. The issue for Omar is that we have depth at his position. Is it fair to sit those guys who are outplaying him today in the hope he gets out of his funk? That seems to go against the "playing time is earned" mantra you hear from UConn Basketball. I'd like to see him hit the boards with a vengance when the shot isn't falling (or even if it is). I think KO is handling it as best as you can expect from the coach. At the end of the day, it's up to Omar. I hope he isn't sulking.

Calhoun is struggling because he is a sophomore and is trying to do more than he did last year. Same reason Nolan is struggling.

The only thing that really concerns me about Calhoun is that his handle has not materially improved since last year. These kind of individual skills should show big improvements between freshman and sophomore years. He must have been told to work on that over the summer, and it isn't much better than last year. That means either a) he didn't work that hard on it, or b) he did and it just isn't getting better. I don't like either choice.
Third choice: He had freaking hip surgery and couldn't work on it....

Omar changed his shot and release in the offseason. I'm sure people told him he needed to change, he shot it too low and he would struggle to play professionally shooting that way. or something. but he changed his release and he's shot has not been nearly as consistent.

His shot looks exactly the same to me.

His shot looks exactly the same to me.

It is slightly higher on the release. The form overall isn't much different though. His shot still seems rushed, partially because of bad form and still a low release.

That is for his three point shot, his midrange shot looks better. Not quite sure why his shot looks so different from three.

If he can get over the mental aspects he should be fine. He's only a sophomore and a pretty good player, but retooling his shot would be a big step over the offseason.
