This is gonna be one crazy NCAA tournament. I just wish most Uconn fans wouldn't focus so much on where we are ranked, are we gettin enough respect, etc. games will be won or lost on the court, who gives a rat's ass where some idiot reporter has us ranked on Feb 17th, or some coach who hasn't updated his ballot in a month. Do Duke/Kansas/Kentucky have a right to be ranked ahead of us right now with equal or more losses?? Who the hell cares....they will always get the benefit of the doubt just because people are lazy and reference-dependent. We have a guy that can carry us to a special place, just like 3 years ago, and wasn't that special sticking it in everyone's face?? Let's just be happy we have meaningful late-Feb and March games, and let the chips fall where they may. Enjoy the ride......F everyone else!!

If there ever were a place to pass the time with pointless debate about ratings and metrics its here, but you are right about one thing, we need to savor what time we have left with Bazz and give him the credit he's due.

I think were doing a good job of both. Not mutually exclusive after all.

I havent even seen a team play level 5 defense like we've shown time from time. thats ollies key, he remembers 2011 very well. Napier/Lasan/Boat are all jumping lanes and hassling ball handlers nationwide. Is Nolan turning the corner? I love options @ the 5; olander,Nolan, and AB. We match up with memphis well, i knew that. Lets take care of business vs cincy + ville + smu, then we can decide the trajectory.

Gotta disagree a bit here. Boat and Bazz for the most part have been awful perimeter defenders. Memphis had a ridiculous amount of layups; not just in transition, but in the half court. People here were killing TO and our big men for not being "rim protectors" but no blame goes on the guards who were getting beat off the dribble at will. I'll give you Kromah though; outstanding defender.

for the most part boat and bazz have been on awful on defense? i guess that explains our top 20 opposing team fg % and 2pt %. boat was blown by a few times, but he also does terrific things when energized.

for the most part might be a bit strong, but they get beat off the dribble way too much, especially boat... just disagree with the assessment that they are "level 5" defenders...

Cincy. They play the best defense I've seen tho year. Ugly offense though.

Walker Jr. is gonna lead us deep into the NCAA. I feel it. This guy is growing on a game by game basis and something tells me he likes the spotlight, he likes to shine. He has a thing for buzzer beaters. lol

.God sake what a game. I was @ Storrs this weekend... If only my gf liked basketball. :(

I was like - Lets go to XL! she was like - HELL NO. Look at the snow outside. LOL

nonetheless. I like Connecticut's chances come March

I broke up with my UMD fan of a girlfriend soon after the game at the Barclays center. I'm incredibly happy we held on to that W and I can't say I'm too upset the terps didn't beat Duke the other night.

Not long after said breakup, I became a daily boneyarder. Breakups really increase fandom, you should try it!

Yesterday was a matchup of 2 of the top 5 maybe even top 3 backcourts in the country so you have to give Memphis's guards some credit. Those guys are fast as hell with the ball. It did seem like a lay-up drill for Memphis at times, but we forced 18 turnovers which ultimately lead us to victory. Not sure how you can say Boat and Bazz are awful perimeter defenders, I think our 3-point FG defense has been much better this year than years past.

I like our team defense but I have to agree that bazz and boat often get beat on the ball - watch the tape. Love boat and buzz but the truth is what it is. Maybe it is because they are trying to pick their player which sometimes puts them in bad position against high quality guards

OK here's some old school wisdom from a man whose 'long time' wife is not a basketball fan either.

All that matters is that she likes loves you liking loving basketball and gets/stays out of your way (e.g. no shopping, housework, weddings, parties during game time). That's the key, its her other categories that are more important.

I'm just not admitting this if I'm you……….For future reference and in case she becomes your wife (or at least this will prove to you if she is worthy) this is how it should go down:

"I know what we can do, we can go to the XL and watch the Huskies today and if they win we can go out and party on the town or else just have some dinner afterward……" A perfect give and take and a perfect opportunity to look into your future……..if she says "that ain't happening" then you say "neither are we, you want this perfect guy you follow me or else later"……….

This is a Husky fan!!

I like the advice from the older folks. I gotta learn the ways now before its too late. haha

Funny, cuz she is the actual student, and she has very little interest in any of the programs. Meanwhile, I visited there one weekend three years ago when Connecticut defeated Arizona in their magical run and I was forever hooked with college ball. It was awesome to be there with the students in the lounge within the Student Union. , she was even the one to get interviewed by one of the reporters of Fox CT that night.

I can't even IMAGINE having to finish college if I'm that Duke kid, after seeing this! He's gonna get destroyed over this at every party he goes to for the rest of his life.... LOL!

The 5's are so different too. Brimah is a classic shot blocker, Olander is good for the more physical 5's (like Patrick Young) and Nolan is a solid college 5. None of them are great players, but they all play an important role.

The most overrated team in the country based on the difference between polls and RPI is Louisville, and no one else is even close. Louisville's RPI is 35 and their ESPN Poll ranking is 11. Voters like this team a lot more than their resume should warrant.

This is more an indication of the RPI just not being a good measure than the human polls being off. KenPom has 'ville at #6 and BPI has them at #9.

I would rather stay ranked come Selection Sunday, don't get me wrong. But generally I agree.

Louisville has 3 wins over Top 100 competition. The RPI is pretty much spot on.
