I've been told by several non-American friends that Americans love to rank things. I answer by saying that ranking tells us just how much awe and emotion the play deserves during the replay and water cooler discussions the next day Anyway, if you go by pure emotion during the game it is a different perspective. The Kemba shot against McGhee, while my third favorite, was over too quickly and decisively to be the best. We knew for almost certain he was taking it so there wasn't a lot of question with it. But what a shot. As my avatar suggests, KW is my favorite Husky.
The Rip shot against Washington seemed to stop my heart for minutes on end as it kept falling off and being shot and tipped and falling and hit out and shot, etc. so its my number two shot. Plus, I believe that shot is more of the face of the Huskies - always shown during NCAA highlights for its excitement factor.
The Tate shot had the timeout just before it so anticipation built up, although I never thought we had a chance. Plus everything about that shot was phenomenal from the pass to the spin around, to the swish to the increased status level of the program after. It did a lot for the program. Wish I had it in HD.
Those are my top three. Brimah's shot was great but not on tier with these, IMHO. Kid is going to have more to come for us to categorize and put into boxes. It's nice to be a Husky fan and be able to choose from a library of big time shots that have won games and tournaments.
The fact that they players all said JC told them, more than once - "We're going to win this game, we're going to win this game. We didn't come all this way to lose, we're going to win this game….."………then UConn basketball was actually beginning in just "1 second"………..because of the overall significance, national attention, great team and UConn dominance beginning, The Shot will always be #1 to me
