Lunardi needs to quantify his opinion on Fla getting a number 1 seed ahead of the UConn-Johnie’s game. He claims Florida’s body of work is superior to ours. So if that is to be believed, how is that #22 Vandy crushes Fla and if we beat #13 St. John’s, we don’t get a 1 seed

Florida is 6-4 against AP top 25.
UConn wins tonight and they will be 7-2.

UConn will be 30-4, Florida is 26-7.

UConn also has a head-to-head win over Florida, and a will have a Tournament Championship.

I'm not seeing Lunardi's argument for Florida over UConn.

Houston has a much better shot than UConn does. If Houston wins, I expect them to be the 4th one seed. They'll be ahead of Florida in KenPom and WAB with a win and the Arizona win will be the best win either team has.

Unfortunately, other teams took a sizeable edge on us with the Marquette loss and then Nova getting upset and us playing Xavier/GTown meant we didn't add much to our resume in this last week and other teams gained relatively.

There is an extremely high chance that at this very moment the committee is discussing the situation and has decided to keep Florida/Houston in the South, and they'll flip Houston to the 1 line with a win and keep Florida as is with a Houston loss. That's the simplest solution, and it's very easy to rationalize since UConn's predictive metrics are bad for a 1-seed.

Fine with me! But I’m still worried about what happens if we win and Houston loses…or if MSU and Purdue get 2 seeds. Either scenario send us to the Midwest.

He's a mouthpiece for ESPN that has a clear bias towards the SEC due to their massive deal with them, and Lunardi consistently ranks towards the bottom of bracketologists year in, year out.

Florida went up against a team that actually played defense today and looked like dog crap. They picked up their 7th loss, losing by almost 20. If we beat St Johns we should have the advantage over them.

As bad as losses to Marquette and Creighton are, we've at least been competitive in every game we've played this season. If we win tonight we have 3 less losses and a H2H win to boot. We would be much more deserving of a 1 seed

Everyone loves their front court but they are not very athletic. It was why we almost beat them last year. Our offense can feast on that type of front court

Hence why I’m not worried about them despite blazing through the SEC. I also think that UConn has the right frontcourt to go toe to toe with Florida due to Karaban pulling Condon away from the post. That hasn’t changed since we beat them.

This is what Lunardi actually said, and it sounded like he was actually trying to talk the committee into it

Florida won a far superior league over the stretch of the season, while UConn came in 2nd in a far weaker league.

He said that overrides the head to head. He then said the committee is smart enough to ignore rash moves based on one game like their loss today.

Remember, there is always some factor never talked about that the committee uses to bat down a deserving team in favor of one they want to advance. It seems like Lunardi was trying to provide it.

Dent just went to the locker room. UCLA isn’t go to win without him and Purdue could secure a 2 seed with a win here. If MSU is also a 2, and Houston gets the 2 in the South then we have to go Midwest…

The only way out of this is winning tonight and praying Houston loses giving us the 1 in the South and UF the 2 and sending Houston to the Midwest.

Doubt it. I get that they try for less travel so yes, if Houston makes #1 seed by beating AZ (guessing they will but who really knows) they get a home #1 seed. The issue is if they are a 2 seed and the 1 seed has to travel 1000s of miles and they travel 3 miles it's truly unprecedented; you cannot find a better home court than 3 miles from a 2 seed in any year of this tourney that made the 1 seed there such a prohibitive underdog.

I agree but bracket matrix was updated this morning and has MSU as the 3rd 2, ISU as the 4th 2, and Purdue as the 2nd 3

Edit but ISU and Purdue are separated by .73 which is a lot. Hopefully a win against ucla isn’t enough for Purdue to jump ISU
