I can see Hurley shaking his head "no" when watching Samuels.

2. 4-Star SF Qayden Samuels

There is no denying Qayden Samuels’ ability to put the ball in the basket. The 6-foot-6 left-handed forward is as offensively gifted as any player in the 2026 recruiting cycle. He plays with a good pace when the ball is in his hands, and he is able to get to spots off two and three dribbles.

The consolidated aspect of his offensive repertoire makes things interesting. He has solid length with positional size and a sturdy base. The developmental aspect will need to come when the ball is not in his hands. He lost focus quickly on the defensive side in this one. There was also not much ball movement or off-ball movement from him, as the offense tended to stagnate as he went to work with the ball. All-in-all, though, as he continues to work through his balance points play off movement, there is no denying the scoring abilities he brings to the table, consistently. He was a matchup issue at each level in this one.

Despite his spotty defense and 2-of-6 shooting from three, Samuels finished against Baltimore (MD) Mount Carmel with 23 points and 4 rebounds on 10-of-14 shooting. Kentucky and North Caroina both offerd samuels within the week.

Still mentioning UConn.

“I haven’t set, or been on an official visit yet,” Samuels said. “I’ve talked with schools like Texas, UConn, NC State, and some others about visits. I’ve taken unofficial visits to Maryland, too, and I just picked up offers from UNC and Kentucky, too.”

UCONN: “It’s pretty cool with them, they text me. I like the coaching staff. I know they contribute pros, too. Stephon Castle went there. I watched him in the championship and the Final Four. He’s the Rookie of the Year now. I like how they play.
