Geno says he is getting exactly what he wants from Caroline. If she scores when it is needed great. At the moment that isn't apparently Geno's need from her. Kelly was much more aggressive looking for her shot. Thar was a solid plus.

Agreed from Geno, but suspect CD would feel better with some shots dropping.

There is nothing from yesterday's game that I found troubling. Not one thing. It's the post-season; my only hope is that the Huskies have at least 1 more point than the other guys. I don't care who scores or how they look doing it because it's win or go home now.

who says she's not "feeling better" right now?

we have no clue on these kids roles... If Geno WANTED her to score he'd find ways for her to do it (see Dolson)

I saw a UConn team that was motivated to play hard for 40 minutes and dedicated to winning. Every single one of them.

They were opposed by an underrated team (I thought PV could have beaten either KS or Princeton) that played with discipline and pride and, by the way, had several speedy players and a few who were excellent shooters. A most worthy opponent that represented their school well from opening tip until closing buzzer.

I was especially pleased to see Banks and Stokes get a lot of minutes and to play well. Brianna once put too much mustard on an outlet pass and Geno gave a loud on-the-spot critique -- "Dribble the damn ball!" -- and sat her. When she returned to the lineup there was not the slightest sign of despondency, no moping or pouting. She just played like a veteran, which is to say very well. She was an especially tenacious defender while guarding the very fleet-footed PV guards, always managing to stay in front of her opponent.

Kaleena is a scoring machine-a.

No PV player got to a loose ball faster than any Husky, including Caroline, Heather and Stefanie.

Aside from the game, I was disappointed that coach Gene O'Riamma didn't sport a green tie or that neither band gave us even a whiff of Irish music. I must assume there was an adequate supply of blarney at the presser.

It was unfortunate that the PV kids had to go back to Texas after just one game, but I wish they could have left that quartet of Sousaphone (no those big wraparound brass instruments are not tubas) players in their band behind.
They were a welcome treat during those loooong TV timeouts.

We saw Husky Bill. I always wondered why he always wears a cap. He momentarily took it off. Now I know why he keeps it on.

Back to you, Bill.

And in the little bit that I saw (thanks to ESPN), they looked like they were playing as they did in the St. John's and ND games in the Big East Tournament. That's the UConn team that we know and love.

Gotta agree Kib, BB looked really good. A hound on defense and made some nice scoring plays. Gotta wonder how Tiff is doing and if Geno was giving her a rest with the stress fracture. One unnoticed key over the past few games is having Caroline and Tiff bringing the ball up. Both are experienced and both imo are running the offense, making Bria and KML shooters and thats what they do best.

After getting the dust off from the long layoff UConn looked good in person. Kiah is coming on and her shot blocking will be an asset down the stretch.....and will come in handy againest KState. KState has 2 bigs who are very good. Bria and KML are just scoring machines. They will be very tuff as the tourney moves on. How bout this made for TV Tenn UConn in the finals . Im not predicting it just saying that would be something. Over all I saw a different team then I watched a couple of weeks ago. A team playing with confidence, poise and grit. With our guards shooting the way they are and with our bigs underneath, we will be a tuff matchup for everybody moving towards Denver. Our guards will force defenses to come out and guard us and that will open up the middle. For a team who lost Maya we are certainly looking good. Kinda funny how the experts have commented on UConn over the past few seasons. First when UConn graduated Renee then Tina then Maya and everytime they predicted UConn was vunerable. I guess that says alot about Geno and how he can lose some big stars, dominate stars and continue to win. Says alot about his defense, and is overall teachings to the team. Well the Star power will be back next season as our young team matures and with the incoming freshman class we will be talking about undefeated seasons once again. The only question that remains is can Geno trump his already amazing accomplishments and win streaks.

Figures everyone would focus on the not so nice.
So there is no way we can improve.
And 0 is the optimum scoring number for CD.
And our first half defense was lights out? Steph didn't see it that way.
And of course Geno would say he was completely satisfied.
Guess I should withdraw my positive comments; wouldn't want to distract anyone.

LOL Kibitzer Excellent posts from Sonny,Ice,Daddy Choc.Nan.Roy,Tony and the "infamous" Kibitzer! I thought we played an excellent game against a team that should be interesting next season with 3 impact players out for the season, everyone returning, recruits? I do agree the 2nd half was much better defensively,Tiff was not afraid to go strong to the basket, mins limited hopefully just because we could,CD is great whether on the bench or doing what Geno wants from her.
Bria had a game in which I did not realize she had 18 pts,Stef loved every aspect of her game yesterday,KML has added to her game which is already pretty damn good for FR/almost SO. Everyone has to notice she is going to the basket more either driving to get the basket, using her body and strength to score and get fouled or getting fouled and shotting 2. She is also willing to post up! All of this is going to benefit the team and give her even more room for that beautiful shot of hers. Kelly love that kid and points are great! She Rebounds, best Assists and A/TO ratio,Defense,120%, diving for balls! Every player seems to be going for that loose ball no matter what it takes! Doty diving for balls.
I liked that Kiah was working on what we need from her,Banks learning,Buck playing as a 2nd big!
I keep going back to 6.5,7,8,9 playing the ball we are playing at this point of the season! We are going to need it all.
I liked Nan's perspective! Are we perfect,NO! Do we have list of things we need to continue to work on,YES! Are the Bigs important YES! Do we need no injuries,YES! Do we need Kiah YES!
Next up Tues evening! It is one and move on or go home!

The regular season is for learning and working on things but this is the postseason. There is no more learning, there is only doing now.

Let me get this straight - in an NCAA tournament game Doty had 1 foul, 1 assist, 1 t-over & zero points and this is what Geno wanted from her??? Using the same rational, in the BE Championship game versus ND, in 28 minutes of playing time Doty had almost exactly the same line - 1 foul, 2 assists, 1 t-over & zero points - & this is exactly what a coach wants from a player??

Add to the nice- 6-6-8 from Kelly. That's a terrific line that I'd take anytime from her.

I'd argue we are not yet at the point when scoring one more point than the other team is all that matters. Geno used a bunch of experimental lineups yesterday and is still tinkering with things. Beating PV A&M by one point would have been extremely alarming. So would beating K-State by a point on Monday. If UConn gets to Kingston, then it absolutely is just about surviving and advancing.

And one of Sonny's not-so-nice items absolutely should be a cause for alarm, no matter the round. I have a tough time imagining a scenario where UConn manages to win it all, or even seriously contend, without Tiff being Tiff.

Perhaps if you were more specific in the kinds of responses you found acceptable from people they wouldn't be so distracted.

Not sure what your point is. In any case, I enjoyed the game, and I intend to keep on enjoying as long as this year allows.

You left out her 4 rebounds (3 defensive)and 3 steals. That MAY be exactly what Geno wanted from Caroline in this particular game.

He also wants someone to give BH a rest off the ball. She does this. We all hope for the added value of stat sheet stuff...

I was very disappointed with yesterday's game. There was very little effort on the part of Boneyarders as there were so few there. If you check out the laughable picture Danny orchestrated you'll see more lurkers than posters. Plus one women who had never heard of the Boneyard until I told her about it yesterday as she had the seat next to mine. Hi, Maureen. Meanwhile Nan was the only moderator there. I'm beginning to wonder if there really are 3 moderators or if Nan uses 3 names so she can collect 3 salaries.

That is exactly what Geno said. He was very pleased with Caroline's play and praised it as such.

Wow, what started out as a simple little +/- post looking for opinion has now migrated to a conspiracy. Amazing.
