Protesting Peacock

I might pay some kid to do a Seinfeld, where they sit in the stands and FaceTime the game to me. Yeah, I know, illegal, not actually going to do it. But, then again...
As long as you're not using the in-person viewer to provide info a split-second earlier so you can prop bet (an issue in pro tennis I believe), I dont think anyone would care.

Spectrum for $55 a month at 1Gps.
Been using IPTV apps and service (that carries SNY) now up to $150 a year. Paid just under $150 in 2020 for a media device ( Nvidia Shield Pro) 250 Gb attached storage.

Might go with a cheaperIPTV service since I no longer need SNY.

This year we had to get peacock for $49.99 for a year.

In the past we’ve had to get flohoops for a month
Haven't had cable TV in 10 years. Used to have Directv at $260 a month.....Decided to buy a Lexus RX 350 instead.

I am like you. I have been using IPTV services for the past 10 years. I pay about $120 per year with 5000 channels + thousands of on demand movies/series....

I pay $80 a month to Xfinity/Comcast for 2GB of internet. Peacock happens to be free with Xfinity if your internet is over 1gb.....

I also use the Nvidia Shield Pro that I paid about $200 for.

I refused to pay for that Flo sports to watch Uconn games so I waited until they were on YouTube.

I would never pay extra for the Peacock because there is nothing there that I am interested in.

What they should do is have only 2-3 games on each network then you're forced to subscribe to ten different networks. Think of the profit!
So basically copy what the BIG10 did with their new deal. You now have to go between their streaming service BIG10+, Peacock, BTN, Fox and NBC on cable. Prior to this deal, you only needed BIG10+ to see majority of the games because the BTN games were added the day after a broadcast.

FWIW I am a Army Veteran and Peacock is offering military discounts for their service. I paid $3.99 plus tax for my subscription.
A month?

Sometimes I'm regulated to a gamecast, especially in Florida, where I watch little dots running up and down a 12x12 inch square on the laptop, with a dot arcing representing a shot. It's actually about 30 seconds behind a TV.

I do this also. It's kind of like watching statistical theory in action, with some chaos added into the mix.

People forget that ESPN got its start by showing Duke-UNC games on its channels before ESPN was widely available. Fans demanded their cable carrier add ESPN and so they did. It’s a proven business model. HBO did something similar

I saw this online. I might sign up.

Peacock offers a military discount for active-duty service members and veterans through its ad-supported tier, Peacock Premium. The offer requires verification through SheerID, which provides a unique promo code for a discounted annual rate, currently $3.99 per month for 12 months.
I didn’t see the game on there. Did you?

As a vet, where/how do I apply?

Through Xfinity.
Yeah I’m still with Xfinity/Comcast paying maybe 250 a month for all channels, Dorsett and internet service along with a phone (landline that I don’t use)… but I’m not ready for streaming etc. I’m still old school

On Peacock under sports. The special @Tonyc mentioned.
OK, thanks. I'm lost and don't know what we are posting about...signing up for/protesting Peacock or if our game vs Ohio State is on the schedule within the Peacock app.

with the IPTV, any DVR capability?

No DVR capability. That is something I have to live without. It took time getting used to that drawback.

However, my iptv comes with basically everything including NFL, MLB, NBA packages, literally 1300 channels thousands of on demand movies and TV series...$120 for the year...

Of course out of thousands of channels, it didn't come with that Flow Sports channel for Uconn games. It came with every Flow Sports channel except the one that showed Uconn..

I “hear” what you are stating but I view this akin to cutting off your nose to spite your face. If you enjoy watching UConn WCBB it’s worth it so I guess it comes down to “are you a true fanatic or not”…🤣

I’ve decided to NOT purchase Peacock as my singular protest to the new Big East media deal. As I AM noted for frequently beating my head against the wall, I was curious if any other Boneyarders had made this decision as well. My provider is DirecTV, whom I adore, but with all the extra sports packages I’ve added (no movies !) my monthly bill is $281. So that’s my story and I’m sticking to it. Anyone else wacky like me out there ??
Not that "wacky." Except for the Ohio State game, all of Peacock's games are against the Big Least. This year's UConn version will have even less trouble competing in the BE than is usual. If you, heaven forfend, miss all the BE games, you will probably miss very little. I'm assuming someone will play repeats, so you'll get to see what you'd expected to see anyway. Even just watching the highlights will add to your years.
Down to hard tacks: to see all the Peacock telecasts, you'll have to subscribe for 3 months @$11/mo. each on Nov. 16, Dec. 17, and Jan. 25.

Here's the thing. I subscribed to Comcast to achieve more channels, decent internet and phone service. Fine - I was very happy. Then all of the sudden the channels were taken away from me in "new packaging." As time passed, they continued to take away certain channels and increase the prices. Then, to add icing to the cake they not only added commercials to the premium channels, they have added so many commercials to the regular channels that I can go get my snacks, take a bathroom break and call our son and daughter to see what they did today. The bottom line is that the cable companies are beyond greedy and the only solution to reining them in is to not subscribe which is what I intend to do with Peacock.

281?!!! OWWWWWWWW!!!!!!!!!!😫 I would need a depression prescription included.

I saw reports that the Big East Tournament will be telecast exclusively on Peacock.
If this true, that might determine if I will subscribe to Peacock.
Can anyone confirm this report?

It is a fact that the entire Big East Tournament is only on Peacock as of now.

From the link in the Watching the games, 2025-26 season pinned at the top of this forum:
"Beginning with the 2025-26 season, Peacock and NBC Sports will present more than 60 men’s and women’s regular season and BIG EAST Tournament games."

From the Big East Broadcast Schedule announcement:
Peacock will stream 25 women's games, including all 10 of the conference's women's basketball tournament games.

If you have Comcast internet with at least 1gb then peacock is free... You may need a firestick or roku to download the app....Both devices are cheap.

Included with specific plans and promotions
  • Gigabit Internet: If you have an Xfinity Gigabit internet plan, you get Peacock Premium for free for two years.
  • Xfinity Rewards: Diamond or Platinum Xfinity Rewards members are eligible for a free Peacock Premium subscription.
  • Promotional offers: You may be eligible for a promotional offer if you have certain Xfinity services.

Thank you for this helpful information! The Boneyard comes through again!!

My son is an Amazon Prime member and gets a steep discount for Peacock with unlimited hook ups. He's going to add it to my Firefox on Saturday so I can watch the UConn games.

I decided not to get it either unless they offer a special like they did last year, so far nothing. I listen to the games on the Varsity Network app that I downloaded on my phone and iPad.

Mr.Nitpicky here...do you mean your Amazon Firestick and not your Firefox browser?
