Polley was a total stud this game. So happy he stayed with us this year. We gonna need him if we want to make a deep run in the tournament.

When Tyler is dialed in he is an absolute game changer. His challenge is do do it more consistently. I hope he gets more looks from now on, Cole and Jackson shouldn't have trouble finding him if he moves well and uses screens. Fantastic job yesterday.

He was awesome, backs were against the wall and he refused to let us lose. He was also huge early in the first half coming out of the timeout when we were getting blown out. He stopped the bleeding and got us going.
Chief was criticized by many for giving Tyler accolades earlier this season. He fills a much needed role as a shooter and people don’t appreciate how much we use him as a post defender because he has the ability to switch.

He and Hawkins were deadly from outside today. I felt so bad for Hawkins when he turned it over. You could see how much it meant to him. Glad he is with us.
This kind of stuff happens. Remember late when Jackson came down with that rebound the guy stripped him and made a layup? It’s getting like the NFL out there with players just trying to punch the ball out. Coaching has to address that but these players are quick and strong. We sometimes forget that because it looks so easy on tv.

He was awesome today and without him UConn loses today.

If UConn shoots well they will be hard to beat this year

You would think so huh. If you told me we were going to be 15-26 from 3 prior to the game I would’ve said blow out city. Unfortunately we turned it over way too much and that needs to end. Sanogo will need to be better with the ball when not scoring today and honestly needs to rebound better. AJ better with his decisions and Gaff could use some confidence back. We probably won’t shoot 15-26 today so the turnovers need to be closer to 10 max.

I can only hope you have zero complaints with how Whaley played. Minus his last 2 ill advised errors (stupid foul and not running the baseline on the in bounds) he was an absolute warrior in this game. The stat sheet won’t do him any justice but if you know basketball he was real good!
His two free throws were things of beauty.

No surprise for me. Tyler was playing like this prior to his injury. Took longer than many us wanted but the trajectory was always there.

Have a wonderful Thanksgiving everyone!

That's the way I see it also.

Seemed like just before the injury he made the transition from a catch and shoot three point specialist to someone who would also drive and rebound aggressively. Then he got hurt in practice, spent last year recovering, and now he is getting back to what he was becoming before the injury.

Regression to the mean

Or in this case improvement to the mean. He regressed first and then improved to his average. Not sure if you can regress before you have a baseline, but you get the point.

I remember waiting all season in 2014 for Giffey to "regress to the mean". Never happened.

Great to have super seniors, he needs to be in the lineup over Jackson, AJ would be better off the bench anyways adding more energy.

"Tyler Polley is a bad man."

That was Tyrese Martin's response when he was asked about the game's leading scorer after last January's UConn victory at Butler's Hinkle Field House. In fact, Martin spoke that sentence two times.

Martin was the first of 3 Huskies to foul out yesterday, and from the bench he watched the "bad man" fill in for him, and then some.

Kudos to 3 posters who have noted themselves as Polley detractors who appreciated his part in defeating Auburn. It would be nice to read similar thoughts from more, as well as several who decried that the team couldn't land anybody from the 2021 Transfer Portal and pooh-poohed the retention of 5th year seniors Polley and Whaley.

When was the last time 3 UConn payers fouled out in a game?

When was the last time 3 UConn players scored more than 20 points in a game?

Who would've ever imagined that two prized recruits won head-to-head over Syracuse would score zero points against a team that put up 109, and that the game would be a victory, while in the following contest from Paradise Island, Syracuse would score 55 points amd lose to VCU?

GREAT DAY TO BE A HUSKY FAN. LET'S DO IT AGAIN TODAY!

We can only win with Kevin Ollie’s recruits!
We need it all: Ollie's recruits, traditional transfers w/pre-UConn ties to the Hurley family, recruits for whom we overtook or outmaneuvered a former BE foe now in the ACC, red shirts, early entrants, and 'run-of-the-mill" 4-stars. All. Of. It.

Polley giveth, Polley taketh away.
He did what he always does when his shot isn't falling, hid in his shell. He's a weapon but he just completely disappears when he isn't hitting. It's how it is his entire career.

Yep, and he is either white hot(like 4 times a year) or ice cold. Seems like shooting 2 for 5 from 3 is out of the question. He not only made shots, but also played tough and scrapped yesterday. Today he went back blending in and being allergic to contact. Major props for yesterday but this is who he is.

I guess you're right. Can't hit the broad side of the barn the last 2 games.

Yup and I got slammed for saying this. No idea why Hawkins doesn’t play over him
