UConn 74
Tennessee 62

Tennessee is better than people think, being the first game in front of fans is going to cause some nerves for UConn, but in the end the Huskies prevail in a close game.

UConn will win this game 83 - 72

Tennessee will go with a very tall line-up they will play 6'5", 6'2", 6'2", 6'2", 6'1". UConn will be at a height disadvantage. I expect Geno will have UConn push the ball and try to our run the taller Tennessee. This game will be a very physical game with high emotions. Tennessee will look to make Evina pay for abandoning their program, UConn will look to give Evina a win...the team know exactly why Evina left the Tennessee program and they will look to make sure Evina has a satisfying experience playing her old squad. UConn has more talent than Tennessee. Tennessee will start one Senior, one Junior, two Sophomores and one Freshman. UConn will start three Juniors, one Sophomore and one Freshman.

Match-ups:

1. Tamari Key 7.5 points / 4.3 rebounds vs. Olivia Nelson-Ododo 16.5 / 7.1 - This matches two 6'5" women but, I think Olivia is too quick and much more polished around the basket than Tamari. BIG ADVANTAGE UCONN

2. Rennia Davis 14.2 / 7.1 vs Aubrey Griffin 8.8 / 4.9 (Keep in mind Aubrey is 17.5 / 9.5 in the last two games). This match-up is intriguing. In order to contain Rennia you need an athletic player like Aubrey. Aubrey has to play smart and not get into foul trouble. If she can keep Rennia in front of her she will be a very tough match up for Rennia. This match up may end up playing out to be EVEN

3. Rae Burrell 16.7 / 3.0 vs. Evina Westbrook 10.5 / 4/3 Evina will be playing inspired basketball. If she can play under control and not let her emotions get the better of her this match-up could be EVEN....however, based on simple statistics without intangibles Rae should win this match up... I will give the SLIGHT EDGE TENNESSEE

4. Jordan Horstan 9.5 / 4.1 vs. Paige Buekers 18.1 / 5.6...interesting test for the Freshman from UConn however, Paige is Paige and I expect her to out play Jordan and I give a STRONG ADVANTAGE UCONN *

5. Marta Suarez 6.1 / 5.7 vs. Christyn Williams 14.9 / 5.3 I think the Tennessee Freshman will be overwhelmed by Christyn and it will be a STRONG ADVANTAGE UCONN *

*
Match-up number 4 and number 5 could be reversed with Paige matching up with Marta and Christyn matching up with Jordan either way the result will be the same... STRONG ADVANTAGE UCONN in both match-ups

Bench:

Tennessee - 31.3 vs. UConn - 22........ADVANTAGE TENNESSEE

Coaching:

Need I even comment..........ADVANTAGE UCONN

Intangibles:

Away game, possible home cooking, could get our starters in foul trouble... ADVANTAGE TENNESSEE

TN 61

UCONN is too fast and too athletic to blow this game! TN bigs have to keep up!
Emotions run high so UCONN needs to control their emotions early!

I think he said that if they want to play us, then let's do it.

But he also was reported to have said to ESPN about playing in Tennessee:

"If you guys are nice to me, I'll come back down and you can yell at me all that you want," he said, laughing. "But be nice to me this time."

Sorry, can't do this one.

We shouldn't be playing this game.
Sorry, I think this is the first time I've ever disagreed with you. Sorry you are not up for anyone, anywhere, anytime.
Let's go in with guns blazing (biseps for those that don't know) and bombs dropping, (nothing but net).
UConn 84-62. And no, the UConn-Tennessee series should not continue until UT’s athletic department issues a very public apology for its ridiculous charges made against UConn’s recruiting.
No attack toadfoot but everybody knows the story. The only one that could properly issue an apology is no longer alive. Forgiveness is a virtue let the rivalry return! Why let something so petty get in the way of the big picture.

They lost one of the greatest coaches of all time, we lost a good game on our schedule.
I like the high road here, we get a ranked team when needed and a possibility for the rivalry to return. For the women's game I don't know what more you could ask for in these times.

No, but they have 13 players who contribute significant points while we have 11. Keep in mind 3 of our players offer very little scoring power off the bench (Autumn Chassion, Nikki Muhl and Paith Gabriel). Together they do not account for 3 points per game

It's not that. I don't think we should lower ourselves to play that evil.

UCONN 87 - "Hurling up Orange for Distance" 59 for a 28 point MOV; Evina hits 5 threes and gets to the charity strip often to lead all scorers with 26; ONO and Paige score 18+ each; 10 blocks for the team...

It's pretty hard to imagine they have a sub as good as AE or AM, eh?
Our starters are a lot better than theirs. I’ll bet their “bench” plays a lot more total minutes than ours, even though our bench is deservedly getting more minutes now.

While I pressed @Charliebball a bit for a score and gave some push back on his assessment, I will say I do agree with him that Tennessee DOES HAVE TALENT and is capable of beating us given their size and scoring abilities of Davis and Burrell. Anyone dismissing their abilities do so at their peril. What all the Holly teams lacked was discipline and a team mentality incorporated with roll the ball out and play “my game”. The group’s dynamics were always less than the sum of their parts and for that Kelly has a tall task ahead of her. In the occasion that they do that, this is a capable team. Their #25 ranking is well warranted so being dismissive is also a bit disrespectful. I get the ire at their fans but this game could be very competitive.

Absolutely, but lecturing us on respect after what I see over there is...yeah...no.

The issue with TN is the turnovers and inconsistency. The GA game last week? Pure lack of effort. Period. If they turnover the ball 20 plus times (like they did last year I believe) then they lose by 30. They are a very capable team, but even as you said, they have NOT played up to their ability yet this season. Best win was against Arkansas. If that team shows up tonight, it could be a good one, but I think UConn still wins it. I still think a 15-20 point victory.

We shall see. Anything can really happen tonight....

The UT athletic department backed the Summit charges, so they could still issue a public apology.
