Mich St has some size and they’re 4-0, but there’s literally light years difference between the 4 cupcakes they’ve beaten and the relentless pressure and speed they’ll face on Saturday.

Huskies win 92-56

I was just looking over MSU's stats from their first 4 games vs Robert Morris, Oakland, College of Charleston and a road game vs Detroit Mercy(are they D1?)

Games played: 4
Points/game: 99.8
FG Pct: 46.2
3FG Pct: 30.4
FT Pct: 69.3

Rebounds/game: 57.0
Assists/game: 21.8
Turnovers/game: 15.5
Assist/turnover ratio: 1.4
Steals/game: 14.3
Blocks/game: 5.0

Now accounting for a possible letdown after an emotional game vs UCLA my prediction is
UConn 89
MSU 50

somehow I don't see MSU scoring in the nineties against UConn..........they're a perfectly decent team but even I the biggest pessimist of them all expect a solid win here..........could be tight early as MSU shoes some grit but I'll say 87-61 final

A big Thanksgiving dinner at the Auriemmas could slow the team down a bit....

UConn will experience a let down after UCLA. It will show up in UCONN's defensive effort.

UCONN 123
UCLA 14

Great stuff - i was looking over their record and was going to post a few things similar, but no need now! As you pointed out, they are literally averaging 100 PPG in their 1st 4 games. Those 1st 4 games were indeed cream puffs, and nothing they did will prepare them for what UCONN will throw their way.

They actually have some solid talent - Sidney Cooks (Freshman #5 in her class). Taya Reimer - transfer from ND. Colley - an experienced PG from Canada by way of SC (11 games as a freshman then transfer to Pitt, then transfer to MSU). Agee was a fairly highly rated kid from the class of 2012 but has had injuries and had several redshirt seasons (she came in the same class as Ariel Powers).

I think they are a solid team and should not be overlooked. Yes they feasted on cupcakes, but they have 4 players averaging > 10 PPG and several others in the 8-9 PPG range.

Having said that...

UConn 91 Michigan St 53. Hard game to predict due to the cupcakes Mich St has played. Can't see Geno/Coaching Staff allowing players having a let down after the big UCLA win. I also expect Azura' to have a big game if she's not in Geno's doghouse and doesn't start. Caroline Doty works for Nike, I wonder if she hosted the team for a lunch/dinner. Even if she didn't I'm sure she passed on some words of wisdom for the team.

Picking up on Eric's observations:
I can't disagree that we outmatch them, but the fact they are the first unranked opponent of the season masks something worth noting - they are ranked #23 in the Massey rankings, which often to a better job than the AP and Coaches poll of identifying good teams, (with the caveat that computer rankings often struggle a bit early and it's still early).

At #23, it still means they are the "weakest" opponent to date, and they may well be overwhelmed intially at the difference between UConn and their opponents to date, but they are a solid team.

One thing is for sure our non starters will see alot of time and Geno will be able to work the non starters in with the starters getting them some valued experience.

102-66, the first 100 point game of the year. MS scores 40 for the first three quarters and UConn subs give up 26 in the fourth, fitting the pattern for the year.

After the last game the freshmen played and the disappointment they caused Geno, I think the freshmen's defense will be better. They don't want to sit a whole game again as they did against UCLA.

Can their bigs keep up the pace that UConn will set? They have not faced the type of defense they will see Saterday. It's a defense you can't replicate in practice, or adjust to on the fly.

I expect the Spartans to keep it respectable for a quarter. UConn will begin to pull away in the second quarter. UConn will have done something the first 10 minutes that no other team has done to them so far. The chasm will open wider as the game continues. Their will and spirit may be broken by halftime. MS should not break 60.

Great minds think alike. Most posts here have UConn's MOV at between 30-38 points.

Now if I could just pick up a damn point or two

Scratching my head for a while thinking who on our team has the abbreviation MS that would score 40 pts in 3 quarters.

Agree. If UCLA could only score 60 against us, how in the world is Michigan State going to score more than 60?? (Unless our bench players lose the 4th quarter to their starters by 15 points). UConn 88-45
