This probably has more of an impact on Malachi Richardson who visited during first night I would think.

3uconn called this about a week ago....welcome aboard Prince!!

This kid just explodes to the rim.

I can't imagine what teams are going to do about Hamilton, Purvis, Ali, Cassell, Calhoun as a senior, and Samuel at the 1 thru 3. Still need another point guard for 2015.

Richardson could easily play the three at UConn, similar height to OC.

Great weekend for UConn

Started with hearing two big recruits had signed, won two games in a nail-biting, but fun way. Get a commit from a kid who looks great on film and is a top 50-75 kid. Let's keep it rolling.

You left out Sam Cassell. A college team needs 8 guys for the 3 perimeter spots, 5 for the PF/C spots, so we still have 2 guards/wing spots left to fill. Need at least one top PG. Prince Ali may grow another inch and could play the 3 with DHam and Calhoun. One PG and one best available player would complete the perimeter. Then we need a top big man to go with Lubin, Brimah, Nolan, Facey. Ideally, a top center because Nolan, Facey, and Lubin are all PFs.

Gotta love these guards above the 6'0 height mark. KO is making UConn a force in the size category again. Cant be more excited. Thanks for the post 3!

Richardson is a better fit at the 3 imo because his handle is poor, he reminds me of Dominic Cheek when Cheek was at that stage. If Purvis does more than a year we'll have quite a glut of high quality 2/3s tho, it would probably make a high recruit look elsewhere.

He is top 50-70, but if he can handle the ball and shoot from outside, he is wildly underrated right now. we'll see how his HS season goes.

espn also lists offers from Georgetown and UCLA. Based on both his ranking and offers he appears to be at least a top 10-15 shooting guard in his class. It also seems like he's a player that will benefit from the rule changes due to his explosiveness to the basket. Awesome pick up.

This is just excellent news! Thanks 3.

I will remember to mention Prince Ali in my short, drunken, Thanksgiving speech to my family at Thursday's dinner table. Nobody will know who Prince Ali is - but they will.
Record your speech so the Yard can share

Scout 78, Rivals 75, 247sports 55, ESPN 82 grade. Either way we got ourselves a nice player.

*HAPPY DANCE*!!!!!!!! Welcome to UConn Prince!! Need to go back an watch more videos. Seems like a high character kid!

Prince Ali (Pembroke Pines, Fla./Sagemont)
2015, SG/SF, 6-3, 185
Offers:
Miami, Nebraska, VCU, Vanderbilt and Illinois, among others
Ali is an excellent athlete who excels on the break, where he can finish on a consistent basis. His excellent first step allows him to slash by defenders and get to the rim. He can pass when he draws a second defender and is an excellent playmaker with the ball in his hands that has an improving mid-range pull-up shot. Ali is also a good perimeter rebounder and fast break starter and capable multiple position defender.

Best Pure Scorers

Prince Ali (Weston, FL./Sagemont)
6-foot-3, 185 pounds, Class of 2015, SG
Prince is a powerful and athletic natural scorer. He is tremendous in transition where he finishes well above the rim and with authority. He is a streaky shooter with range to 20 feet. He is best when moving forward and attacking the rim. Prince has solid length and a strong frame. He was very hard to stop at this event.

Here's an ESPN insider scouting report from Reggie Rankin:
http://insider.espn.go.com/college-...ting/player/evaluation/_/id/175897/prince-ali

Strengths:

Ali is a very athletic wing guard that can also excel at the point. Ali can simply make scoring plays with the ball in his hands. He attacks the rim on the break and can deliver the ball to an open teammate as he probes the defense with excellent feel and touch on his passes. In the halfcourt he is a quick first step slasher and finisher. Ali is a pretty good perimeter rebounder that can get the ball of the glass and start the break and is a threat to take it coast to coast if the transition defense falls asleep. Ali plays with energy, effort and a consistent motor that allows him to be a multiple position defender as well.

Weaknesses:
Ali will need to continue to work on his perimeter jump shot, extend his range and make it a consistent weapon. He will also need to continue to add strength.

Bottom Line:
Ali is a talented guard that can score, pass and defend multiple positions on the perimeter. He is a play maker that competes with a high motor and plays with swagger. An improved jump shot takes a already productive game to another level.

Add my congratulations to the staff, and welcome to Prince. Very glad to have him aboard. Super psyched! And agree with Fraschilla - Ollie has been incredibly smooth in replacing the legend.
