That would be an incredible class. That's two top 10 recruits. I don't believe UConn has ever done that before. I would temper my expectations. My Realistic Guess (which would be an unbelievable haul and probably a Top 3 class for sure)
MAL
Diallo
Polley
Bamba
Why?- Confident we don't get Richards or Bamba
Why?
I guess it would be more accurate to say I'm somewhat confident about that one instead of confident, but I have no actual information. Just guessing based upon gut feel, our history of recruiting over the last 25 years, the rankings of both players, our general connection with each player, the projected rosters of different teams their freshman year, and trying to to not be a homer and look objectively at how easy a sell it is for us vs. the other teams competing for them. Why?
Personally, I'm:
- Very confident we get Diallo
- Confident we get either MAL or Tremont
- Confident we don't get Richards or Bamba
Yep. In the last 20 years I can't remember a single instance of a recruitment that went in the typical manner where we were able to successfully land a big man ranked in the ballpark of where these two are ranked. Having no other information to go on, it makes sense to be skeptical imo. This is pretty much where I am. It seems like we've seen the Bamba/Richards recruitment 100 times before.

I don't know enough to know who we will get. Who I want is:
Diallo
Waters
Bamba
If we get them (or MAL or Richards) it is an amazing year and they could afford to put me into one of the open slots (61 years old, out of shape & overweight).
If we get 2 of those 5 it is a great year.

But can you hedge? Can they throw me in there though? Recently found out I was an old man and a loser. Not sure I can play there but I will box someone out.![]()
But can you hedge?
, learned from the best at 11-13 years old.Why does everyone think we're getting polley? Have I missed something?
I used up a year of eligibility as a freshman running track but was technically on active duty my last year at UConn and I have been for the 30+ years since, so I may have one year left. I'm a generous 5'8" have a hip replacement but also a mean disposition on the court and I can hit my free throws, so sign me up too!Can they throw me in there though? We are in his top 5 and we jumped there despite a late offer. He has Killings written all over him. We are clearly his best choice for a bball school out of a list of a few fball schools, a mid major, and whatever you call Pitt. For me, it was mostly a guess based on those factors. Plus I like the fit.

Keep in mind that the original post was open as to each poster responding by selecting 'who you wanted' or 'who you think we will get', so some posters might want him but might not be projecting getting him. In my case I both want him and I'm guessing he ends up with us, but you haven't missed anything, just my guess.
In the end - just passing time on The Boneyard until posters with real info feed us some red meat.
I posted my reasoning on the first page. But basically we're the best school in his top 5 and he seems like the type of recruit we get to round out our class as a late riser top 100 type guyWhy does everyone think we're getting polley? Have I missed something?
