The FBI investigation has taught me that literally anyone of consequence is getting something under the table. Everyone from every college. Kansas and UNC are paying the kids under the table just like Memphis.

So the only difference IS the legitimate reasons. In this case, Penny's relationship building and cult of personality, NBA scout throng that will follow the team (mostly Wiseman), and natural human desire to be part of a "moment".

We've been on him way longer than anyone and were the perceived favorites for a long time. It's really friggin' lame someone from our own conference can just sneak in there and get him.

Welp if it's not us, it's definitely not Syracuse either. That leaves Memphis and Kansas. PLEASE be Memphis. Let's get some talent into this conference and hand fraud Bill Self another recruiting loss. UConn-Memphis could be a fun future rivalry.

I really don’t get this. What is so sexy about Memphis?

We are in the same conference, have better facilities, are much better academically (I know not a huge deal for 1 and done), have a better pedigree, have a proven x and o’s coach, and a huge hole on our roster to fill. It makes no sense. I get Kentucky or duke or UNC or Kansas, even UCLA or Indiana. I don’t get Memphis, or, Illinois for that matter. At all.
