Your comment may be true but how’s it worked for Kansas, Kentucky, Carolina, Duke, St John’s, and some others. As a coach, you still would need to get the right guys, not just the best 5* kids.

These rosters rarely work, even Pitino’s mercenary team ended up with a 5 seed.

I think May just hit a home run with the perfect players and coached them to near perfection, but I certainly wouldn’t use this as a baseline for success looking at the evidence against

May built as great of a roster as you can. Elite talent evaluator as most of these guys were cast offs outside of Yaxel who he did not need at 100% to win tonight.

I’m a fan of how he constructed his roster.

We played our tails off tonight. All you can ask for. Wish more shots would’ve fell but we had a great successful season. Said we were a Final Four team at the beginning of the year and we did just that.

Saying you can’t complain about the refs only proves the impact they had,

they're correct. 2-4 in the last 6 games reffed by Breeding

96% winning percentage in games not reffed by him
63% winning percentage in games Breeding reffed.

Egregious but talking or mentioning bias in officiating is completely taboo so it will continue on until he retires

Yeah, I don't exactly understand how to have a conversation about this game without addressing that.

There's a technical side to these games. You tend to look to that after a loss to find out where the game was lost.

Fairly simple here....there was a disparity in fouls combined with our inability to score from the perimeter led us here. If we can't talk about either...

If you saw what this team was in mid February, you realize that we had no business even getting this far. We did it with experience, guts, and coaching.

It’s possible for us to be proud of this team and still critique the horrible offficiating of the first half. I have earned the right to embrace Alex, Tarris and Malachi for a great season while giving the referees the finger. Both things are possible.

We had our chances tonight especially in the last 7 minutes. Lots of credit to the culture of this program to keep the pressure on Michigan when we were having to juggle the foul trouble. We were in position to get blown out down 11 but really closed it to where we had a shot to be one score down in the last minute. Team belief in themselves is what made that possible. It will be weird to watch the team next year without Alex Karaban.

That was my point. The coaches at the schools I mentioned had all the talent in the world but could not dominate and buy a Natty. Bill Self is the prime example along with Pope, Calipari, Hubert Davis.

We missed a few that would normally go in (so did they), but I felt that if AK had hit that last 3 and made it a one possession game, UM's collective throat would've closed pretty tight, and who knows what happens then.

Great season. Dub-dubs by both Tarris and Alex, but needed more from the bench given all the early foul trouble. Great game plan though.

Seeing players develop over years is the real pleasure in watching at all.

We short armed a lot of gimmes.

All year long we bragged about the intermediate game and Mullins, Demary and even Karaban short-armed several floaters and jumpers from close in.

Credit Michigan because they were clearly intimidated by possible blocks.

They could have folded their tents when they got down by 11 and didn't. I am proud of the team, and we will all miss Reed, Karaban, Smith, and, more than likely, Mullen.

One stat stood out. I and many others said before the game that we needed to hit double digit 3s on a respectable volume 30+% to get the upset. Well we converted only 9 of 33, 27%.

If AK converted that late 3 it would have been 10 and 30%, and down by 1 with 17 seconds to go. Oh so close.

The other pre-game factors were mainly realized. They more than held their own on the boards. They defended, though not without fouling. Some bad calls, but some dumb legit fouls as well. Made them defend for long stretches. Held them to a low percentage and few 3s and few transactions baskets. But it still wasn't enough.

Gotta give Michigan credit for contesting so many shots. But they just couldn't make up for the missed opportunities and the FT disparity.

Can't deny that the effort was there for a full 40 minutes. So close and so proud!

I agree. They absolutely were the best team ALL year. But here is the thing. They would not have won tonight, had it not been for the officials. The best teams do not always win, and all things being even, the best team would have lost (IMO). It is what it is. Michigan, all year long, was absolutely the best team.

On one hand, watching players develop from freshman to senior is largely going to end with NIL and the portal. On the other hand, we will see more and more players try to sue their way to extra eligibility so they can continue to play in college once they've developed.

I do have to credit Lendeberg. He toughed it out. I also say if Cadeau was on my team I'd love him like Cam

Lendebert was not good on offense, but his length really did help them on defense. I don't think they win without him, even limited.

The less I say about Cadeau, the better.

One thing I haven’t seen mentioned too much is that while shot was obviously off, Braylon was really impressive attacking the glass and, in general, just being aggressive. It was impressive against all those monster athletes.
