Possible match up vs BYU

I'm not sure I understand why any fan of the program (or the school) wouldn't be in favor of this. One of the best things the school can do is increase its presence in the Boston media market. The 2024 regionals was a great first step. The Fenway Bowl was a nice little touch.

This could be very beneficial. We claim NYC as Storrs South with our presence at MSG. If we can make a reasonable claim to Boston being Storrs North, we would be far more attractive to any all sports conference looking to improve media revenues.

This is a good matchup.

Something I was thinking about was our MTE situation. Hurley doesn't want to play in one but if we don't I think we only get 29 games unless that it is the plan.

If our schedule is something like this:
Arizona (H)
Texas (H)
BYU (Boston)
Illinois (A) example of a H/H
Columbia (H)
CCSU (H)
Coppin State (H)
Maine (H)
MD Eastern Shore (H)

I could see that working out for the school financially with 7 non-conference home games and one big game at each venue, but I don't know if only having 29 games hurts us in the metrics.

Edit: we could just make our own MTE with Columbia, Maine, and CCSU and call it the UConn MTE.

Schedule so far:

Texas (H)
Arizona (H)
BYU (Boston)- Possible

Here is how I would like to see the schedule round out:

Two H/H road games against the P4: Florida, Illinois
MSG game: Syracuse

Two games against Ivy programs: Yale, Harvard

One game against an HBCU: Howard

Two games against New England flagships: New Hampshire, Maine

Exactly. Obviously not enough decision makers/important people/influences take the CT market seriously enough on its own. They think we're fractured and stuck between Boston and New York. So, we might as well embrace that perception and drive home more of a presence in both cities (we already have convinced a lot of these people that we are a major presence in New York, so let's drive it more in Boston).

I think the funniest part of this is that BYU wants a game in Boston and Boston College gets left swiped right out of the gate.

The road to becoming “The New England Program” has ended with them not even being “The Boston Program.”

Have to play in a MTE otherwise our OOC is limited to 9 games I believe.
