Any early guesses as to intriguing guys that we think might hit the portal and be of interest? Perhaps at a school that has announced their coach will be leaving at the end of this season?

It’s infuriating really. Maybe a steady backup PG woulda helped with the 20 TOs in back to back games. Maybe?? And What the heck is the deal with Nowell how is he always getting hurt when he doesn’t even play?!

Hass hurt and no credible backup. Mahaney not the guy and Nowell always hurt. We need to hit the portal hard at this position for multiple players. Only part of the reason we lost to St Johns.
That is stating the obvious.

Nowell needs to get healthy. I think he's a player. Shown some early season flashes. He can take over and run the offense when Diarra isn't feeling it.

That’s a huge ask of a freshmen coming off an injury to do that. He’s played barely 20 total minutes in big east play. I’m not even sure they can really trust him to do that at this point.

I am starting to worry about Nowell's future trajectory. I hope it doesn't follow Alterique Gilberts. Gilbert was a really nice HS point guard that was hyper injury prone and never approached the potential he was recruited for. I know Gilberts issue was shoulders, but Nowell has been injured a LOT for a low usage freshman. I was really excited to watch Nowell play and grow this year. It just hasn't worked out so far.

We had a top 40 transfer portal player, the reigning 6th man of the year in our conference, and a top 40 freshman at the position. Nobody thought that wasn’t enough heading into the season. It’s just bad luck.

Diarra was holding it down before his injury, Nowell woulda been a fine backup if he didn’t get injured. Sucks but that’s what happened.

It cannot be salvaged at this point unless somehow Mahaney becomes Cam Spencer. All the chips were pushed in on AM becoming the second point guard but he’s just not it.

Whenever Nowell gets back, I hope he gets the lion’s share of the minutes because next year is going to be a similar slog if he’s not up to the job on day one. And have Solo carry a basketball with him everywhere he goes this summer.

Kid is built like a brick house too, hope it is just bad luck. Shoulder and ankle both in practice.

I feel like this is beating a dead horse. Staff misjudged Mahaney, Nowell has been injured too much to develop, and we’re razor thin (and paying for it) because of it. Not much to do about it this year except hope Diarra can get healthy.

Which probably won't happen with him playing 36 minutes a game. Rock meet hard place.
