I think it was a very subtle swipe at Calipari, who not only restored the Kentucky program that Pitino rebuilt, but competed with for a number of years first Louisville vs Memphis, then Kentucky vs Louisville.I think it's not that. He's pretty much saying how Calhoun is a peer in every way. How they came up as rivals before the BE and continued being rivals in the BE and in some ways are looked at as rivals now in regards to being the best coach ever. He doesn't mention another coach that came up around the same time in K, because K wasn't down the street when he was starting and wasn't in his backyard when he was in the BE. It's a matter of familiarity and longevity.
