OT: PGA Championship This Week

We're going to have to agree to disagree. There are 141 players driving the ball longer than he is now. 158 players with better accuracy driving the ball. 184 players hit more greens in regulation. Most importantly, he no longer putts like he used to.

When he is in form and playing a course he knows and doesn't have to dominate in distance, he has chances to win. He is currently not in form, hasn't played enough. His shorter less accurate drives into deep rough will wreck him this week. If his back can even hold up.

He's not the same Tiger. There are at least 10 players, maybe 20 on their best day that beat Tiger on his best day.
There is no current player who beats tiger on his best day. You don’t have to like him, but to make the statement you just made screams you have absolutely no understanding of the game of golf or the relative abilities of current professional golfers!

Wow - so hostile! For the record, I'm a huge Tiger fan and would love to see him return to form and be competing at the highest level. You can go dig through the posts - I did say during the Masters that for the first time in a long time, he looked like he could win. But I don't see it this week. Love to be wrong.

And I'm not sure how stats showing that he's nowhere near the top players right now shows that I know nothing about the game or current pros, but whatever.

Tiger: walking looked smooth (first thing you have to look for with the weather and this stage of his career & iteration of his back). Iron tempo is a thing of beauty. I could watch him hit 90% 7 irons all day. I do hope he's around for the weekend.

Course/greens was in fine condition, guys were still pouring in long puts late in the day.

ESPN coverage was miles ahead of anything CBS has put out in years. I'd pay more than $5 for 4 straight days of 12 hour coverage. Broadcast + 2 featured groups? Let's go

Anyone who answers "Tiger" is clearly a fish and doesn't follow golf. It's 2020.

I actually risked 250 to win 50 that Tiger wins zero majors this year. Free money.

They are afraid to pair them, but that would be fantastic if they end up together. I'd like to see Koepka rip Bryson's head off.
It would be a good fight at this point. Bryson could just kick Brooks in the knee, and with his extra weight/muscle, he could easily put up a good fight.

I went heavy in my lineups with Berger and Morikawa. Harris English would be my longshot sleeper.

For a fave I liked JT. Day has been playing very well lately, but he's no fave anymore - more like a middle-tier.

There are many golfers nowadays who beat him on his best day. It's 2020.

Well I don't think any of us had Li as the leader after two rounds. But you have to be looking at Day, Fleetwood, Koepka and Rose as the favorites. Can't count out Berger and Cameron for sure.

If someone going out early can take advantage of the conditions and throw a 63 or 64 on the board, they could be in the running on Sunday.

If Woods could have putted like he did yesterday, we would be a threat - probably too far back unless he goes stupid low tomorrow.

JT putting one together. Forecast is winds this afternoon. Could have some carnage later

Looks like it's going to be brutal for the late starters. JT got it to -5 but pulled back to -2. Anything under par for anyone still to tee off (12:40pm) will be an excellent score.

Not that it mattered in the bigger scheme of things, but I would've enjoyed following Mickelson/Poulter today. There had to be some serious trash talking in that pairing. And Poulter kicked Phil's butt, -4 to E.

Surprised at the lack of comments for this thread. Really interesting day for sure. I don' think anyone had Dustin as their pick. And certainly not Scheffler. Cameron is a bomber and certainly had some chatter.

Still like Koepka but he has to climb! Bryson right there and Casey should be good in the winds.

Anyone -5 or better has a serious chance. Maybe even -3 if they are out early enough.

Who is your pick? I'm still going with Koepka.

I picked Brooks in my 1/done pool, so hope he can make it happen. I think the lack of fans hurts him most.

Fleetwood will do his 63 64 thing tomorrow and finish top 5.

Was hoping JT would string one together today but he fell off. Spieth gave me anxiety watching him over the ball - he had no idea which direction it was going on the front 9. We’ve all been there

should be an absolute shootout tomorrow afternoon. Do hope the wind picks up to spice it up. Jealous of you east coasters getting prime time golf

I've been out during afternoon both Fri/Sat and was catching up at night.

Couple of things. After three days of watching I am not a big fan of the course. Just seems blah to me.
Still amazed how many 15-20 foot putts are coming up 2-3 feet shirt or offline. I know many of these guys are playing it for first time but the putting hasn't been great.
Law of averages crushed Li yesterday. Shot a great round out of rough on Friday. He only hit four fairways. Yesterday he referred to the norm.
Glad to see pros lose a ball in a tree.
No reason DJ can't win this. A focused DJ is tough to beat. Was interesting to hear Phil say early in the round how well DJ had been putting and then see DJ continue to roll it well.
Fleetwood had a chance to out his stamp on the tourney yesterday and totally Fowlered his round.
Last thing is the last hour of yesterday really shows how quickly the course changes when temps drop and fog rolls in. I realize TV wants the prime time viewing but to me it almost punishes last 3-4 groups playing in that weather. I wouldn't be surprised if someone in the -6 to -7 groups gets to -11, finishes 90 minutes before leaders and wins.

I had Morikawa as a pick in this thread so I'll stick with him. Schauffele, DJ and Day are the three others I'll keep an eye on.
If Koepka wins, forget about it. Couldn't find greens yesterday and kept getting up and down. And he was still under par.

I'm good for watching final round today. Spent a good amount of energy enjoying sun and water yesterday and have had a pretty stout honey do list past few days.
I am cooked and on the couch for rest of day.

Nice self-commentary from JT.

"Dude, YGTBFKM."

Said every weekend on every course.
