Wondering how long it would take all the good feelings around here to turn hostile if he somehow does go with VCU.

I feel like the Champions Center would be under siege at the hands of angry posters.

I think the timing bodes well for us too. The staff is probably moving down the priority list. Gibbs is secured, on to Diarra.

I think Diarra is the perfect first commitment type for a large '16 class. He called us his dream school. He is a lanky big who rebounds very well. And he is rated low enough right now that he is not going to scare off any big time players, yet I think he will end up being one of those late bloomers ala Enoch. I say this because sometimes I think about how hard its going to be with 6 to possibly 8 schollys to fill and convincing guys to come in and compete against guys in their own class. On a sidenote: we may see another 5th year grad transfer or two next year to bridge the gap to '18, unless we pick up a transfer or two this year ala Larrier.

From Spring game or car wash?

My source believes that he will end up with us. Again, feel free to message me if you have any doubts about where I'm getting my info.

I mean, it's your buddy who made Diarra's tape, right?

No. Lubin was in the 350s, Diarra is ~150ish and rising.

Now that he's gone and we don't have to be quite as correct - recruiting Lubin was just a bad idea from the jump. It sounded like a bad idea early and it looked even worse after the game he played up in Springfield or Worcester or wherever.

It wasn't good for the kid and it wasn't good for UConn.

Reaching for recruits at UConn's level is how you end up with APR issues and roster holes - let's not do it anymore.

Any sense he could reclassify when u talked to him?

Like tcf said he seemed to want to go to postgrad in that one story with his quotes.

Love the idea of him getting stronger and better with a redshirt year, but those are so rare.

I could see the reach as just us wanting a post defender with some bulk as an option on the bench - due to our other bigs all being pretty skinny, The logic could be that if we were getting worked by a wide bodied post scorer, it gave us someone on the bench to play physical with him.

It was just so rare that it was a problem for us that Lubin became unnecessary. Wide bodied post scorers just aren't that common in the college game. It was like having a left handed specialist in the bullpen in a world where everyone batted right handed.

If he is going to be a Husky no matter then I like him prepping and playing games. He can learn and get stronger practicing at UConn but there's nothing like "real games" for a younger kid to learn the details and fundamentals. Both work I agree, but I have no issues with him in Woodstock though.

Great job. Not to nitpick here but a couple of to/too's could use revision. Great article and great scoop 3!

Good points, games might be most important he sounds raw. Either way is fine.

Would be very surprised if he was at UConn next year.

Yeah, I thinks it's best to let him develop with another prep year. Redshirting isn't a bad idea but playing vs. real competition is the better option
