Next out ought to be the President of the university. After all, the "punishment" meted out last November or so when the activities of the coach came to light was approved by both the AD and the President.

Now there's at least one thing that died for ol' Rutgers - Pernetti's career.

Wow, what an amazing fall from grace.

I thought he'd have the chips to keep his job - guess not!

The President can't be far behind. Too bad this didn't happen a year ago as it might be us and not Rutgers in the Big 10. Timing is everything.

No surprise here. It seemed like the press releases were designed to set up Pernetti as a firewall if things went South. The Pres. is a harder call but I'd bet he's gone as well.

The only reason Pernetti wasn't gone in the first place is because he and the president are joined at the hip here -- if Pernetti had to go, then so (eventually) will the Pres. My guess is he fought to keep the AD for that reason.

It's crazy. It's not like they were dealing with a legendary coach here. They're all gonna take a fall for a terrible coach. Makes you wonder what goes on at that school over there.

They had a legacy of coaching mini (because no one actually care about RU basketball) scandals. They were had gotten to third base with the B1G and didn't want to blow it. I get it. They should have signed a confidentiality agreement with Murdock and worked to place him elsewhere. But, as always, hindsight is 20-20.

Seriously, is it too late for the B!G to change their minds and choose a different Northeast school?

That's just American culture these days. Once the snowball effect starts on a story like this in the media, social networking, and other outlets, it is impossible to stop. Modern people really enjoy being outraged. I'm not sure I like it, but it's the reality, and I'd be flabbergasted if the president doesn't follow.
