So, what kind of recruit or portal entrant would not have second, third, or fourth thoughts about committing to Kentucky?

Nah. Not really a concern. Maybe a little more scrutiny from parents but that’s it. Kids who have confidence in themselves, which all elite HS players do, don’t worry about stuff like this IMO.So, what kind of recruit or portal entrant would not have second, third, or fourth thoughts about committing to Kentucky?

Ah, she’s getting married so it’s ok to treat her like crap. Misogyny at its finest. If that's your logic then coaches would never get fired for poor performance since they have a contract in place. Come on now, Rowe committed 8 years ago to Matthew Mitchell. She's graduating early and getting married soon. She's going to be just fine.
I agree that it is best to withhold judgment until all the facts are known. However as a general matter players are processed out of programs after every season for a variety of reasons. No program can promise all four years.Let’s be clear players are asked to leave all time. Look at what happened to LSU when Kim came in. Almost their entire roster turned over. And while yes, they could’ve decided on their own to leave. It seems pretty obvious that most of them were told there wasn’t a place for them anymore.
Geno sits down with the players after the season and talks about what their goals and aspirations are . you could be sure if the players goals don’t match what he sees, He tells them that this probably is not the place for them going forward.
I’m not as judgmental as others on this thread as we don’t know the full story there could be good reasons that he doesn’t want her around anymore.
According to an article in the local newspaper she did already graduate with a degree in kinesiology.Sorry, but this is lousy. What about an institution's commitment to a player? This young woman wanted to graduate from Kentucky apparently. This is ridiculous.
You know all the details?Sorry, but this is lousy. What about an institution's commitment to a player? This young woman wanted to graduate from Kentucky apparently. This is ridiculous.
No. National Letters of Intent guarantee one year of academic aid only.Respectfully disagree. Students sign their offer letters with the university, not with the coach, and the offer is for four years of tuition and expenses in exchange for being willing to suit up. Rowe kept her end of the deal and Kentucky should do the same. And come on - does Brooks really think he needs to recruit 15 starter-worthy positions such that he can't honor his university's commitment to Rowe one more year?
I think I've just found a new favorite team to root against next season.
The SEC actually guarantees scholarships for 4 years unless they are a detriment to the program. This has been in effect for about 5 years. Maybe she is on her 5th year?Totally agree. The program made a promise to this kid, and it looks like Kenny broke this promise. Maybe he should have counted how many players he had before making so many offers. Rowe was a starter half of last season, but Brooks obviously doesn’t like something about her, as she hardly played this year.
My long list…Good lord, now I have to add Kentucky to my long list of SEC teams that I actively root against.

She probably had option to leave basketball team and stay at Kentucky on scholarship for her last year. Transfer, is of course so she can still play hoops.Totally agree. And signed a lucrative 5-year extension this weekend. It obviously hasn't affected how he's perceived publicly. She probably had option to leave basketball team and stay at Kentucky on scholarship for her last year. Transfer, is of course so she can still play hoops.
This happened to 15-20 players last year at Colorado football when Coach Prime arrived.
It's also happening a lot now in Olympic sports as the House settlement imposes new smaller roster limits on these sports. These sports used to have only a small number of scholarships, but unlimited roster size for walk ons.
Wait, what? There ARE SEC teams you root for? Wow, who knew….Good lord, now I have to add Kentucky to my long list of SEC teams that I actively root against.
The grad transfer isn’t an easy option. DPT is different than say a masters in business. Most programs are highly competitive and a lot of them have highly specific undergrad requirements. The one our son completed was a six and a half year program that started his freshman year. He got provisional acceptance into the grad program as a junior. Assuming she also wants to play basketball, finding a grad program that works with her already completed undergrad and needs her in basketball is a needle in a haystack. I’m not saying it couldn’t be done, but I can see where it wouldn’t be easy. I can see why transferring isn’t really an option.Apparently Ms Rowe graduates this Spring with bs in Kinesiology and has been provisionally accepted in Kentucky's Physical Therapy Doctoral Program.
So she has this option, if she chooses ultimately not to transfer.
So in exchange for basketball at UK, she got a free undergraduate degree, and would be a grad transfer. Not so turrible.
If she chooses to transfer and play, what many grad transfers ( like K Chen) do is just take an interesting 1 yr masters that strengthens their resume. Then move on to serious grad school after playing days are over. The grad transfer isn’t an easy option. DPT is different than say a masters in business.
