I'm an AD Dave fan but one item where I differ is the way he splits the BE games between the two venues. Last year, he basically spit in the face of Hartford ticket holders. Only 4 Big East games, no marquee games. His philosophy is wrong on so many several levels. First, it's easy to milk the cow in good times. We get it. But how about some respect? Hartford should get six games this year, throw those great fans who just put up with your BS "forever seats" nonsense a bone or two.
What frustrates me the most is the perception that Gampel gives the team a competitive advantage over playing in Hartford. It's not true, it was never true, it's especially not true now. A few years ago on a long plane ride, I got out the media guide and went through it with pen and paper listing the venue's W and L's. It was virtually even, I mean 3 decimal place even.
Now let's review the last 3 seasons of Big East home games, since we became a national power again. Both sites saw 13 wins. Gampel hosted 3 losses, Hartford but 1. Both sites saw 3 wins against Top 20 teams. Hartford's were better (one an OOC game) a 4, 10 and 15 versus GP's 18, 18 and 20. It's close but Hartford's slightly better. But the kicker for me was the the Gampel crowd's performance during the St. John's game last year. National primetime, biggest regular season game of the year and they only lasted about 5 minutes. They went limp the rest of the game. That ain't happening in Hartford.
And Dave needs to make it a couple of good ones. Creighton for starters. At the end of every year they crumble in an arena. So why let them play on campus?
