I'm an AD Dave fan but one item where I differ is the way he splits the BE games between the two venues. Last year, he basically spit in the face of Hartford ticket holders. Only 4 Big East games, no marquee games. His philosophy is wrong on so many several levels. First, it's easy to milk the cow in good times. We get it. But how about some respect? Hartford should get six games this year, throw those great fans who just put up with your BS "forever seats" nonsense a bone or two.

What frustrates me the most is the perception that Gampel gives the team a competitive advantage over playing in Hartford. It's not true, it was never true, it's especially not true now. A few years ago on a long plane ride, I got out the media guide and went through it with pen and paper listing the venue's W and L's. It was virtually even, I mean 3 decimal place even.

Now let's review the last 3 seasons of Big East home games, since we became a national power again. Both sites saw 13 wins. Gampel hosted 3 losses, Hartford but 1. Both sites saw 3 wins against Top 20 teams. Hartford's were better (one an OOC game) a 4, 10 and 15 versus GP's 18, 18 and 20. It's close but Hartford's slightly better. But the kicker for me was the the Gampel crowd's performance during the St. John's game last year. National primetime, biggest regular season game of the year and they only lasted about 5 minutes. They went limp the rest of the game. That ain't happening in Hartford.

And Dave needs to make it a couple of good ones. Creighton for starters. At the end of every year they crumble in an arena. So why let them play on campus?

Last year was particularly bad because we had what felt like zero Saturday conference games. The only ones that come to mind were both at Gampel: Creighton (loss) and Seton Hall senior day (blowout win). I agree it should be more balanced.

"crumble in an arena" with discussion of the state of the old HCC/whatever they call it now cannot bode well.

That's a Big East issue and it has been an issue since UConn joined the Big East. UConn is the draw in the league and so they get shipped out every Saturday to prop up away venues with a likelier chance of upsets for prime TV slots on FOX.

In theory, there are 10 in conference home games so naturally 5 would be weekday, 5 would be weekend at home. Maybe one year it was 4 but most years for UConn it is 2-3 weekend home games with 1-2 of them on a Sunday.

If I had my way, they would never play in Hartford.

Open every season at Gampel on a weeknight. (1-0)
First Saturday of the season play CCSU at XL. (1-1)
1-2 November OOC games before Thanksgiving at Gampel, 1-2 at XL in whatever order. (3-3)
1 game at XL over Thanksgiving week while students are away. (3-4)
1-2 games at Gampel before the semester ends. (4-4)
All home games over winter break at XL, probably 4-5 (depending on the year) Big East games (4-9, 0-5).
All but 0-2 (depending on the year) remaining games at Gampel including Senior Day, all Big East games. (9-9, 5-5)

Gampel would get more marquee OOC games and fewer Big East games this way but I think many would take that split

It’s always been true and always will be true. Cry more.

In order to avoid putting 5 'best' big east teams in GP every year...would it be reasonable to split venues by original big east vs new big east?

Perhaps original in storrs...new in hartford? Or alternate each year?

I object to the PBA moniker.

The People'sBank is one word.

Should be PA.
PeBa Arena is an elaxceptable alternate.

PBA is a bowling league and using it probably puts this board at risk for trademark infringement much like the World Widelife Fund made Vince bend at the knee.

Hurley has said he wants St. Johns in Hartford this year.
