Idiotic. How they failed to tie this into the spring football is beyond me.

Also, 4pm...on a Sunday??

They've got to have them at the Spring Game. Just have to. Ollie & Geno know the importance of football in the CR world.

That said, idiotic. Wasted opportunity.

I'm just so angry about this.

Pep rally at the Rent with free "Dunkin Donuts" champions tee shirts to first 10,000 fans. Get a voucher walking in, shirts redeemed at the end of the game.

Have the teams available for pictures/autographs whatever an hour post game.

You can't tell me we wouldn't draw 20,000k for that.

Just disappointing.

It's Palm Sunday, hence the late start. To the people who made this decision......

The spring game tie in was a no brainer. But- just for a moment - acknowledge that there are logistics to throwing a parade, coordinating state/local governments and police/fire, that may have played a factor in scheduling it when we wanted. If UConn didn't even ask, shame on them, but there may have been extenuating factors.

Hopefully they can still manage some sort of tie in.

This is beyond stupid. I honestly do not understand how you can mess up this bad. This exactly why Hartford will forever be second-rate. Idiots, all of them, whoever was involved from the Mayor's Office to the Governor's Office.

It's bad enough having to watch Superbowl's until midnight on Sundays, NCAA Championships until midnight on Mondays; we did NOT HAVE to pick this date and time, unlike the other aforementioned events. Don't mess with hardworking people's Sundays. Instead they could have easily had it Saturday afternoon when people normally go out to enjoy themselves.

Absolute stupidity. And absolutely unnecessary to have it Sunday at 4pm.

@CTMike You make reasonable points on logistics but this is extenuating circumstances IMO due to CR/ perception.

A lot of my casual fan friends who were 100% in for a dual event Saturday are now out for both.

Imagine giving Diaco exposure to 20,000+ UConn basketball fans and firing them up
at the rent? Ahhh makes my head hurt!

This is smart. They can have the teams and trophies at the Rent on Saturday and maybe an autograph session. Then have the parade on Sunday. Draw two good crowds on consecutive days on what is shaping up to be a great weather weekend.
Not to mention, the logistics of arranging both events on the same day on 5 days notice...... good luck with that.

I forgot it was Palm Sunday. I was gonna bring my son to the parade, but Palm Sunday is a big deal in my family for some reason.

We move game times to accomodate one religion but..........

Is that all winning two titles mean to you? More "exposure" for another team? Tying this celebration to an exhibition FB game would be a huge insult and wouldn't have sold one ticket.

For some reason the State of Connecticut refuses to allow two state-related events to occur on the same day. Always been this way, and it helps define Hartford as a small-time city.

The parade has always been on a Sunday. What better family activity for "hardworking" people than a parade. I'm telling you, the self-loathing by a good-sized chunk of the fanbase never ceases to amaze.

You my friend, are an idiot. Self-loathing? Nope. Having the parade at 4pm on a Sunday, given all of the other possibilities, is unintelligent. That is all. Not sure where you get the self-loathing from. A lot of people will go, no doubt. But, if the parade was on a better date/time, the difference in attendance numbers is easy to see.

Of all the possibilities, Sunday at 4pm is one of the worst, or, at least at the bottom of the list. That's all my previous comment stated. No self-loathing.

Is it known/announced that the Men's & Women's teams & trophies will be there?
And that there will be some ceremonial recognition?

If so, then I'd travel to East Hartford and see the Rent for the first time ever. Yep, I'm one of those people you are claiming would be drawn to a recon mission that might interest me in football. Until I read this thread a bit, I wasn't aware that there actually was a spring game already scheduled. Because CR is so completely driven by football, this does seem to be a fumbled opportunity UNLESS my two questions are answered YES. And if they are answered Yes, where would I get more information?

Yep, these questions and comments are from someone who has spent a lot of time on UCONN basketball for over a half century.

You bitch but offer no alternative. "All the possibilities" consists of what? Not the following weekend, that's Easter. We have folks complaining about Palm Sunday. Not the weekend after that, the event would be stale. Have these 2 champion teams serve as the warm-up act for a 3-9 team? Pass. This Sunday is the only date that makes sense. I would like it earlier than 4, but I'm sure they would to.
