Idiotic. How they failed to tie this into the spring football is beyond me.
Also, 4pm...on a Sunday??
It's Palm Sunday, hence the late start. To the people who made this decision.
@CTMike Imagine giving Diaco exposure to 20,000+ UConn basketball fans and firing them up
at the rent? Ahhh makes my head hurt!
This is beyond stupid. I honestly do not understand how you can mess up this bad. This exactly why Hartford will forever be second-rate. Idiots, all of them, whoever was involved from the Mayor's Office to the Governor's Office.
It's bad enough having to watch Superbowl's until midnight on Sundays, NCAA Championships until midnight on Mondays; we did NOT HAVE to pick this date and time, unlike the other aforementioned events. Don't mess with hardworking people's Sundays. Instead they could have easily had it Saturday afternoon when people normally go out to enjoy themselves.
Absolute stupidity. And absolutely unnecessary to have it Sunday at 4pm.
I forgot it was Palm Sunday. I was gonna bring my son to the parade, but Palm Sunday is a big deal in my family for some reason.
We move game times to accomodate one religion but.....
Palm Sunday, really?
The parade has always been on a Sunday. What better family activity for "hardworking" people than a parade. I'm telling you, the self-loathing by a good-sized chunk of the fanbase never ceases to amaze.
This is smart. They can have the teams and trophies at the Rent on Saturday and maybe an autograph session. Then have the parade on Sunday. Draw two good crowds on consecutive days on what is shaping up to be a great weather weekend.
Not to mention, the logistics of arranging both events on the same day on 5 days notice. good luck with that.
You my friend, are an idiot. Self-loathing? Nope. Having the parade at 4pm on a Sunday, given all of the other possibilities, is unintelligent. That is all. Not sure where you get the self-loathing from. A lot of people will go, no doubt. But, if the parade was on a better date/time, the difference in attendance numbers is easy to see.
Of all the possibilities, Sunday at 4pm is one of the worst, or, at least at the bottom of the list. That's all my previous comment stated. No self-loathing.
