One other observation from last night’s game. While the game was played in South Bend and the 2 teams both had former ND greats on their roster, the cheers every time Paige hit a basket were distinctly louder and recognizable as what I will now refer to as “the Paige Bueckers cheer” which is the higher pitched sound you hear when thousands of young girls all cheer wildly in unison. :)

As I watched the game I was wondering if Paige ever played on a losing team in her life. It will be a small miracle if the Wings go .500 this season.
It’s all good, as long as the pay checks don’t bounce.

Yeah, Dallas was outgunned for sure. Paige looked fine, didn't force the issue on offense and played hard D. It's still preseason so she has a few games to feel out just how she'll fit in. I can assure you that she'll need to be a big part of the offense if Dallas has any hopes of being competitive.

Has Paige ever been on a team where she wasn't the best player and go to girl?

Maddie played well. Go Maddie!!!

We watched most of the game. After Paige's first bucket, she was hunting shots that were off balance. In the 2nd half, she calmed down. Arike still does too much with the ball, and you gotta make stuff if you do that. We are a spoiled fan base, as when I asked the hub if he thought the passing was sloppy, slow, and unfocused, he said, you know, we're not watching a Geno & Chris coached team anymore.

Of course the Wings were doing, rightfully so at this juncture, a lot of lineup juggling. When they figure out/settle into their best rotation things should change for the better (whatever ceiling that has).
Paige played well given the restrictions (especially with lack of cohesiveness). I also liked Aziaha's game..
I look forward to seeing maybe Paige, Arike, and Aziaha play together.

Paige even got a good ovation when she was introduced in the starting lineup.

You catch a glimpse of a very special 'mighty mite' in a couple of these photos. That's Mai Yamamoto, who is famous in Japan. I would love to see her -- against all odds -- succeed in the W.

It was awesome to see Paige rocking the Kobe shoes in UConn colors. However, did anyone spy something that would not be allowed, aka, CD rules?

Arike has been in the league for six years. In that time she’s led the league in missed field goals three times, has been second twice and third once. (She’s led in made field goals once and was third twice.)

Those girls spend money too. Bueckers is a magnet to them and advertisers pay a lot for that.

Great to see Paige using her voice. Seems to be fitting in very well.

Actually, mom & dad spend the money. Nothing is too good for their little girls. :)

Paige played 23 minutes, scored 15 pts on 75/50/67 shooting, with 5 rebounds, 6 assists, A/TO of 3.0 and 1 block…..ho-hum….

I hope the people in Dallas appreciate what they are about to experience.

Dallas actually looked good in last night's preseason against a Japanese Antelopes team. Not top talent, but some of the players I recognized from their Olympic team.

Dallas will find out that playing with Paige’s unselfishness is contagious and will make them a better team.
It might be happening already. Check out the postgame press conference with Paige and Arike.

VERY nice to see and hear, thanks. I especially liked Arike's reaction to the question which cited the possibility that, if this was last year, she might have taken forty shots. I might be reading too much into this, but I think the possibility of not having to be a one-woman team this year and replacing it with some beautiful team basketball (particularly with Paige, Dijonai and Maddie) is making her pretty happy.

My curiosity was peaked so I did a little checking. Last season, Arike averaged 19 shots per game which was only 2 shots per game more than she averaged during her last season at ND when she played on a national championship team. Games in the W as well as NCAA games are both 40 minutes long.

I don’t necessarily expect Arike to take fewer shots this season with Paige, Carrington and Siegrist in the lineup. But I do believe that more of her shots will come in the flow of the offense off Paige dimes than last season where she would often have to put up difficult shots going 1 on 1.

@oldude Speaking of Dallas dimes, they had 34 assists last night on 57 made buckets. 23 of those assists from the starting 5. Paige and Arike each had 6, but the rest of the team ain't slouches in the assist department. Sub-WNBA competition meant easier opportunities to be sure, but the Wings play looked competent and fluid.

Maybe just wishful thinking on my part but I want the Wings to be worth watching (and good for Paige's career).
