Not too sure about keeping Caroline on the bench. With her issue being recurring headaches, I would hope that once she goes a couple of days without another one, then she will rejoin the team practices and be available to play in the next game. I assume that she won't be available for tomorrow's game, but hopefully next Friday at Xavier. (Fingers crossed.)I know we’re talking Paige here, but I wouldn’t be at all surprised if they keep Caroline and liv on the bench for a few more games in order to be sure they’re ready for the BE Tournament
Before last night, has Geno stated for the record that he didn't expect Paige to return this season?![]()
Just a "point of order"... the 8 weeks was recovery from the surgery...NOT to being on the court. We are in the next phase of her recovery...getting her to work the leg, get back to playing shape and gain confidence that it is healed and won't let her down.its gone from 8 weeks to “I think she will play this season “. IMO she won’t be back this season and its for the best. Obviously hope I am wrong.
Go slow make sure physical does not get mental, Paige needs to feel comfortable before game pressure affects her confidence. Hope she starts slow and finishes strong.Just a "point of order"... the 8 weeks was recovery from the surgery...NOT to being on the court. Geno said that about AubreyBefore last night, has Geno stated for the record that he didn't expect Paige to return this season?
I thought I said that... "paige gains confidence... "Go slow make sure physical does not get mental, Paige needs to feel comfortable before game pressure affects her confidence. Hope she starts slow and finishes strong.

Agree @HuskyNan , Geno has been very careful in what he has said regarding Paige. Stuff like recovery from surgery is 8 weeks... and we will see where it goes after that.Geno said that about Aubrey
That would upstage the seniors. Better to have her replace Nika, Caroline or Azzi.Senior Night against Providence 2/27/22 she will just quietly come into the game to replace either Christyn or Evina who will have both started this game.
The last couple of days have given us a greater window into what "on schedule" means for Paige. Listening to Geno makes it plain that the last one to give Paige clearance is Paige. That is what she is telling him. This I like very much.Lots of optimism from Geno

Injury Update: Geno expects Paige Bueckers to return this season
Geno Auriemma provided updates on UConn’s injured players including Bueckers, Caroline Ducharme, and Olivia Nelson-Ododa.www.theuconnblog.com
an example I want to use is Kevin Durant, they rushed him back game 5 of finals when most ppl knew he was not ready. What happened? He got hurt and this was way worse than previous injury, missed the following season. All everyone talks about is when Paige comes back..is she coming back this year? She still isn't able to do any cutting..then how long before she's in basketball shape..will she subconsciously be tentative..she wasn't shooting the 3 ball well even before she got hurt..the one good thing about Paige is she doesn't have to score to make this team better.
I'd sure like to see her back but that being said if Uconn plays the suffocating defense they played against DePaul they can beat anyone outside of SC and Stanford without Paige and they still would have a shot beating those two..I've watched Louisville a few times ..the number 3 ranked team in the country and they don't have the talent Uconn has but they play great defense
So hopefully Paige will be back but I would think it has to be soon for her to at least to start practicing otherwise keep her out for next season and be 110% healthy and roll with this team they have

As for Liv, groin injuries are treated by lots of rest, so they will probably keep her on the bench until the BE tournament, except for a brief Senior Game appearance, only if she has recovered tho.
I like the thought of Both Big lady post playing. Until they are flowing and contributing I like what Geno is doing.High post - Amari
Only when Liv is unavailable.
According to GENO, Paige and only Paige will say when she is ready to play. She won't let a doctor release her if she doesn't feel ready. So ask Paige! The last couple of days have given us a greater window into what "on schedule" means for Paige. Listening to Geno makes it plain that the last one to give Paige clearance is Paige. A 110 percent ready Paige NEXT YEAR, in the long term is better than an 85 percent Paige NOW. I can handle the wait? In life, expectations often are better than the fact. All everyone talks about is when Paige comes back..is she coming back this year? no they didn't rush them back but they sure are playing a whole lot of minutes right now out of necessity.......not really ideal, especially in Azzi's case since a stress reaction is an overuse injury.........They will do what they need to do. They certainly did not rush Nika, nor did they rush Azzi. And they will deal the same way with Caroline, Liv and Paige. Relax, sit back and enjoy.

Exactly.According to GENO, Paige and only Paige will say when she is ready to play. She won't let a doctor release her if she doesn't feel ready. So ask Paige!
Me too, I want Paige or her parents give their blessing before she plays. It is her future, her life to fix or ruin (obviously with medical input).
Where exactly in my post did I state that she will be practicing but not playing in games. My premise was that she had recovered and I stated that in my post. And if you want to get the context of my post, please read the post that I was replying to.So it's OK for her groin to participate in 3 hr practices but games are too risky?
You generally don't play unless you can practice. If you want her to rest the injury then she has to stop practicing and just sit until March?
In the press conference following the DePaul game Geno said that because of a series of injuries Dorka generally does not participate in practice. Even so, she certainly seems to be playing in games, and was not too shabby against DePaul. So it's OK for her groin to participate in 3 hr practices but games are too risky?

Agree, practices this time of year are less intense. There's scouting and specific emphasis on upcoming opponent, some drill work to stay sharp, some clock situations, and maybe one or two areas of focus for the day.In the press conference following the DePaul game Geno said that because of a series of injuries Dorka generally does not participate in practice. Also, fwiw, practices this late in the season are not 3 hours long.
The point is that you have to practice well before you play. I want Bueckers back when she is 100% and both she and her doctors agree she is 100%. No sooner and no later. The best and consistent medical advise (other than yours) is that the injury should have healed 100% in 6-8 weeks and last Sunday's evaluation (again, by actual medical people with licenses) concluded that she is healing as expected and she is now incorporating some practice activity. So she is practicing, much like Mühl and Fudd did, in increments. This means she is doing basketball stuff and this will continue to become more intensive as long as there is no setback.Where exactly in my post did I state that she will be practicing but not playing in games. My premise was that she had recovered and I stated that in my post. And if you want to get the context of my post, please read the post that I was replying to.
Poster after Poster acts like coming back from injury is some sort of strategic move by the coaching staff. IMO these are young athletes ready to get back into action as soon as they are cleared to return. This "wait til next year" stuff is nonsense. Feels like Roy Hobbs with the bullet fragment lodged in his abdomen, risking permanent damage if he played in the pennant deciding game. You guys with kids, how did you treat your own kids when they got their cast removed? Did you hold them inside until their limb fully healed or did you watch your child run off to the playground? These are young, world class athletes, waiting to do what they love to do most, play basketball.
BTW couldn't avoid saying it- too many injuries this year! What's going on? Stretching? Training? Recovery?
Traumatic injuries, like Junior Griffey running into a fence are unavoidable. Aaron Judge pulling a muscle swinging a bat, need to look into that one.
Now that is moxie!I once played the day after I got my braces. Still not happy I didn't get much credit for playing through the pain.
