Paige explodes for 44! And sets a record.

I started watching the Irish guy's video on this, but couldn't watch more than a couple of minutes of him denigrating Paige's performance (not guarded, etc) and saying that She Who Cannot be Named is far and away the best player ever. After another couple of beers (it's nearly 1900 Saturday down here) I hope I will have washed the taste out of my mouth. Edit: and not just from him.

Why can't people just accept that a great performance was a great performance? 🤨🙃 (that last one should be the right way up when viewed by Northern Hemisphereans...) Another edit: missed a closing bracket that would have unbalanced the universe if left uncorrected. :-(

Because for some people, saying Paige is fantastic somehow means (to them) that she’s better than Caitlin, like it’s an either/or situation. For some, recognizing Paige’s terrific play is actually insulting to Caitlin. This whole Page vs Caitlin thing is probably distressing to these two good friends

I've made it a point never to click on any of his vids no matter how intriguing the headline because I just want him to go away. In addition to not feeding the trolls we have to not feed the algorithm.

One of the reasons I appreciate the women's basketball forums on the Boneyard so much is that, for the most part, posters are here for a genuine discussion about basketball. We all have our favorites and our own biases, but I've also been—and seen others be—influenced by other people's arguments and data. If we celebrate the glory of one player, we—usually!—manage to do it without denigrating another player. It's a haven for people who love women's basketball.

Stewie is probably my favorite player in the league other than Paige. Imagine that every time I saw any post about A'ja (even those that had absolutely nothing to do with Stewie), I went on it to comment about how whatever she had done had not met the standard of something Stewie had done. It would make absolutely no sense. Yet this is what I see happening to Paige by "fans" of Caitlin and, lately, Sonia Citron, trying to explain away Paige's accomplishments.

Caitlin is extraordinary, Paige is extraordinary, and Sonia is extraordinary. Can't three things be true at once?

Yes it can, however for some reason, this viewpoint gets drowned out in all the noise. This isn't uncommon in other sports.

As a Bills fan, I get frustrated with the Josh Allen vs Patrick Mahomes narrative. Who cares who is better? They both made their teams relevant again, make unbelievable plays and seem like cool guys to hang with. Yet, some fans from both teams can't agree to disagree and leave it at that.

Most of the Citron fans are actually Clark fans in a wig and sunglasses.

The biggest thing that gets me is that Dallas has been a revolving door this year - yesterday they had 3 waiver wire pickups and 3 rookies (Quinerly being out stopped it from being 4). They’ve never formed a nucleus used to playing together. Paige and Arike will only play in 22 of 44 games together. Siegrist missed 2 months. Carrington missed a month. Geiselsoder missed a month in Europe. The opening day 9 player rotation was Paige-Arike-DC-Smith-MHA-Charles-Harris-Siegrist-McGowan. Only Paige, MHA and Siegrist are playing now, and Siegrist missed extended time.

Mystics were pretty stable this year - the Sykes trade changed that a bit. The Fever last year had Clark-Mitchell-Boston-Smith play all 40 games together (and Wheeler, Hull, KLS only missed 7 combined).

So yeah, wins have been hard to come by for Paige with so little continuity (and so little talent). Dallas went 5-2 in a 7-game stretch when they were starting to get it figured out - then Arike and Carrington both got hurt. Arike came back relatively soon after missing 3 or 4 games (and shot 0-10 on her return) - but Carrington wasn’t the same player when she came back. Siegrist didn’t come back until Carrington was gone - and then Arike was out.

A small footnote. The organization picked up Carrington knowing she was a head case. Thankfully no one lost an eye. The front office is horrible and the coach may grow up to be a fine coach but not right now. You don't put the #1 draft pick in the hands of your rookie buddy.

Follow the money. That guy is saying that because it pays the bills. To be fair, I'm sure we'll see more and more Paige 'influencers' doing the same.

Are you talking about "Mick"? Wednesday night he admitted that Paiges performance was really unbelievable but also admitted that he is a Paige Bueckers hater. I knew it, because every time the league gives flowers to Paige, he, as well as all Fever fans, complain that CC is the face of the WNBA and that's that. They are so up her butt that they think any good things Paige does is a kick in the face of CC. These people are nuts, and I am now avoiding them. Geez.

I have wondered all season how Paige is coping with playing so hard performing so well and losing losing, losing. Yes she is one of the best team players, but it has to hurt. I hope Dallas gets another #1 and works like hell to rework the team for next year.
Here’s hoping Dallas can get Betts to pair with Paige! That would give them a guard/post duo to compare with any team in the league! Then trade Arike for another first ( not sure what they can get) and get a good rebounder/scorer (Serah Williams) to partner with Betts & the future will be so bright “they gotta wear shades!” Then sign a couple of defensive “dawgs” and one more sharpshooter to help Paige and Maggie and watch the wins roll in!

A couple things. Betts will take time to develop a pro game. I would like to see the Wings sign one of the many veteran centers who will be free agents next season (Tina Charles?) and then use their lottery pick for a player who can have an immediate impact: Azzi, Olivia Miles?

Arike will also be a free agent. So the Wings have only 2 choices. Sign her to a new long term contract or let her walk. Finally, Serah won’t be around in the 2nd round when the Wings draft again. She’s a 1st round pick for sure.

Yes, but I wasn't going to promote his channel by mentioning his name. I've pretty much stopped watching him because of his anti-Paige stance, and he spent quite a lot of time begging people to subscribe, which supports the view that he's in it for the money.

I eventually had enough beers to wash out the bad taste, so it ended well... 🍻🍻
