Paige explodes for 44! And sets a record.

I started watching the Irish guy's video on this, but couldn't watch more than a couple of minutes of him denigrating Paige's performance (not guarded, etc) and saying that She Who Cannot be Named is far and away the best player ever. After another couple of beers (it's nearly 1900 Saturday down here) I hope I will have washed the taste out of my mouth. Edit: and not just from him.

Why can't people just accept that a great performance was a great performance? 🤨🙃 (that last one should be the right way up when viewed by Northern Hemisphereans...) Another edit: missed a closing bracket that would have unbalanced the universe if left uncorrected. :-(

Because for some people, saying Paige is fantastic somehow means (to them) that she’s better than Caitlin, like it’s an either/or situation. For some, recognizing Paige’s terrific play is actually insulting to Caitlin. This whole Page vs Caitlin thing is probably distressing to these two good friends

I've made it a point never to click on any of his vids no matter how intriguing the headline because I just want him to go away. In addition to not feeding the trolls we have to not feed the algorithm.

One of the reasons I appreciate the women's basketball forums on the Boneyard so much is that, for the most part, posters are here for a genuine discussion about basketball. We all have our favorites and our own biases, but I've also been—and seen others be—influenced by other people's arguments and data. If we celebrate the glory of one player, we—usually!—manage to do it without denigrating another player. It's a haven for people who love women's basketball.

Stewie is probably my favorite player in the league other than Paige. Imagine that every time I saw any post about A'ja (even those that had absolutely nothing to do with Stewie), I went on it to comment about how whatever she had done had not met the standard of something Stewie had done. It would make absolutely no sense. Yet this is what I see happening to Paige by "fans" of Caitlin and, lately, Sonia Citron, trying to explain away Paige's accomplishments.

Caitlin is extraordinary, Paige is extraordinary, and Sonia is extraordinary. Can't three things be true at once?

Yes it can, however for some reason, this viewpoint gets drowned out in all the noise. This isn't uncommon in other sports.

As a Bills fan, I get frustrated with the Josh Allen vs Patrick Mahomes narrative. Who cares who is better? They both made their teams relevant again, make unbelievable plays and seem like cool guys to hang with. Yet, some fans from both teams can't agree to disagree and leave it at that.
