PAC-12 Chaos

They should be presenting the deal and getting expansion teams on board ASAP.
This whole crap show can be salvaged by presenting a palatable TV deal and getting a couple replacements on board

You guys have really good fan support, even during so-so seasons. Historically so I believe?
In 1999 we were sub-so-so , going 0-11. We averaged 78,000 per home game in a stadium that seats @80,000 ( can pack in 84,000 standing)

Prior to joining the SEC we had a mix of good and really bad seasons. We were invited ONLY because we usually had attendance in the 70,000 range.

Last year, Florida blew us out in the first (away game) of our final three Orange Crush games. With top ten Tennnesse and Clemso remaining, it looked like we were not going bowling. However, 79,000 of the home faithful showed up for what was supposed to be a Vol blowout and cheered our underdogs to a massive blowout. Ditto the following week against Clemson ( though attendance for that game is usually near 50/50 black and orange)

As Dawn said our fanbase can be crass at times but we are large and loyal.

The Pac-12 is expected to "present its media-rights deal to the remaining nine schools in the next couple of days." This comes as the conference looks to "hold its nine remaining schools together, land a satisfactory media-rights deal, and add a school or two via expansion." The conference is "negotiating from a weakened position" after seeing USC, UCLA and Colorado exit. The conference "hasn’t been tactically sound, maneuvered too slow, asked too much of its members, and is in an uncomfortable position because of it." The Big 12 "would love to capture" the Univ. of Arizona, but President Robert Robbins has "assured fellow members of the Pac-12 CEO Group that Arizona will wait to see the conference’s media-rights numbers before making any decisions." A Pac-12 CEO Group member said “expansion will come into play immediately after the media-rights deal.” That timeline suggests the conference is "including media companies in the expansion equation" (JOHNCANZANO.com, 7/31).

Hmm......no agreement to me means they didn't like what they heard.

if Pac holds with 9 that’s a very good sign for UConn, unless somebody else steps in front of us again

Didn't the Pac Network fail because the west coast audience didn't do Pac sports subscriptions?

Yeah, but this is with Apple so it will be cool.

It sounds like a gamble for the Big 12....low guaranteed salary plus an uncertain commission.

Based on the rumors, the deal sounds untraditional with incentives. And, some people are probably not ready for a streaming future. Thus, I can see why some schools would need to think about it even if there is potential to make good money.

Just spitballing here. For a relatively small investment, Apple could funnel some NIL funds into the PAC 12 and buy some star power. Sort of like how MLS and Apple did with Messi. Although this would be much cheaper.

The agenda for the Arizona Board of Trustees meeting says that it is for "a review of assignments with Arizona Board of Regents Executive Director John Arnold". That is the only item on the agenda.

It does say that it can be amended at any time prior to 24 hours before the meeting. But nothing has changed on the website.

At 3:30 p.m. the board will call the public meeting to order and immediately convene in executive session regarding the following items:
• Pursuant to A.R.S. §38-431.03(A)(1) and (3) for a review of assignments with
Arizona Board of Regents Executive Director John Arnold.

Pursuant to A.R.S. §38-431.03(A)(3), the board may convene in executive session during the meeting to receive legal advice regarding any item on the agenda.
Pursuant to A.R.S. §38-431.02(H), the board may discuss, consider, or take action regarding any item listed on the agenda.
INDIVIDUALS WITH DISABILITIES MAY REQUEST REASONABLE ACCOMMODATIONS, INCLUDING
THE USE OF INTERPRETERS, ALTERNATIVE FORMATS, OR ASSISTANCE WITH PHYSICAL
ACCESSIBILITY. REQUESTS FOR ASSISTANCE SHOULD BE MADE TO THE BOARD SECRETARY
(602 229-2540) AS FAR IN ADVANCE OF THE MEETING AS POSSIBLE TO ALLOW TIME TO ARRANGE
ACCOMMODATIONS.
The agenda may be amended at any time prior to 24 hours before the board meeting.
Estimated starting times for the agenda items are indicated; however, discussions may
commence, or action may be taken, before or after the suggested times. Any item on the agenda may be considered at any time out of order at the discretion of the board chair.
It is anticipated the meeting will adjourn at 4:00 p.m.
A copy of the agenda may be obtained at the office of the Arizona Board of Regents,
2700 N. Central Avenue, Suite 400, Phoenix, AZ 85004, no later than 24 hou

The Arizona Board of Regents meeting has nothing to do with the media deal or conference realignment. The sole item on the agenda is a review of assignments with Arizona Board of Regents Executive Director John Arnold. They just stated this in the livestream and said that they are adjourning in 30 minutes.

After all this, if UConn isnt invited in the next few days, it's because the Presidents have already noted they are inclined against them.
